Close to the centre of Ambleside (and a great children’s play park), this family-friendly house has a real home-from-home feel. Versatile space both inside and out includes a bench seat on the patio from which you and your pup can enjoy views of the Fells.
This handsome Edwardian property, set over three storeys and with stone steps up to the front door, has been extended and altered over the years to allow plenty of room to spread out. A Lakeland stone floor, original fireplace and painted kitchen cupboards provide traditional charm in the kitchen/diner, but you have all mod cons, too. The kitchen leads to a shower room and a boot room, ideal for storing coats, footwear and Fido’s lead and towel. Gather around the Smart TV and log-effect gas stove in the lounge, perhaps playing a board game while your mutt snoozes at your feet. On the first floor you’ll find two charming bedrooms, a queen-size (twin on request) and a twin, plus a family bathroom, while the third bedroom, a double, is on the second floor. Outside, a patio runs from front to back, where you can enjoy an al fresco meal or simply sit and watch the world go by.
The popular resort of Ambleside is surrounded by stunning countryside and there’s an endless choice of things to do that will please both humans and their doggy best friends. Within less than a mile you can stroll to the spectacular 20m waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force, stopping for a photograph at Bridge House, a former apple store built across the waters of Stock Ghyll beck. From Waterhead, 1 mile, you can take a steamer cruise (hounds welcome) around Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, or pack a picnic and explore the ruins of Ambleside Roman Fort, 1 mile.
