This fabulous, single-storey, detached cottage with a next-door annexe is an amazing rural retreat in the gorgeous Suffolk countryside just a mile from the beach. You’ll have a happy hound with two gardens for them to go mutts in and amazing walkies in the nearby country and coast.

The retreat has been tastefully furnished and styled to create a beautiful and elegant place to stay. Step into the hallway, with space to store outdoor gear, and head to the impressive open-plan kitchen/diner, with massive, tall ceilings, high-end appliances and bi-fold doors to the rear patio. Relax in the sitting room overlooking the front garden on the plush sofas while your dog snoozes on the cosy rug. There are three bedrooms in the main house, a king, a twin, and a single, and a super-king (which can be arranged as a twin) in the annexe 2 metres from the back door, with an  en-suite shower room, and French doors to the garden. The annexe also houses a handy utility area. There’s a family bathroom and a separate WC in the main house. Kick back and relax in the garden while Rover has a ball on the front lawn and explores the patio at the rear.

Walberswick is an idyllic village home to tea rooms, pubs, shops, restaurants, an art gallery, and a long sand and shingle beach. The area is doggy heaven with gorgeous walks straight from the door. Head out on walkies to Southwold (2 miles on foot) along the coast, crossing the river from Walberswick on the foot ferry. Visit Dunwich Beach (6 miles away) which is a quiet, wild beach perfect for giving Rover a good run and unearthing the village’s amazing history as the site of the lost city of England.

Unfortunately there was a bad smell of drains, especially in the kitchen. On entering property no smell but as soon as facilities were used the smell was awful. The annex hadnt been hoovered very well, lots of cobwebs and dead spiders. One of the mattresses had seen better days, very uncomfortable and noisy if you moved. Response from Holiday Read moreCottages - Thank you for your review and we believe the smell was from a neighbouring field. The owner has been made aware of your comments regarding the mattress. The cottage, set back from The Street was the perfect location for us. It was thoughtfully presented and very comfortable. The garden was great for our dog and with the bonus of good weather, we had a fantastic week. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home.

The house with a separate Annex was perfect for our needs. The garden is lovely and our dog enjoyed the freedom to roam a bit. We would definitely consider returning.

Lovely cottage, lovely situation, but response to any problems was poor.and something needs to be done about removing rubbish, given that the local council system is so poor. Great location and space for a large group. Garden space was good and great for walks and pubs. Close drive to southwold and other villages. Cottage its self needs some tlc, and a few updates throughout. A bbq would have been a nice touch too. But it was clean and ridy throughout.

Not what I expected. Fell short on several major issues. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. The garden is advertised as pet friendly and not dog proof. The ants were a result of exceptionally high temperatures and the prevention pots are used specifically to minimise them and are safe for pets. There is an integraRead moreted microwave in the top oven. Hide

Lovely roomy cottage with plenty of space when wanting to sit together. All on one level so perfect for everyone. Really quiet area set back from the road. Plenty of garden space. Beds were comfortable. Sofas could do with washable throws as they are looking a little grubby.

Lovely cottage in a gorgeous village. Easy access to Walberswick, Southwold, Aldeburgh and a little further afield to Woodbridge and Stoneham. We had a fabulous week, and were very lucky with the weather. The children and dog particularly enjoyed the large enclosed garden. Somewhere we would definitely come back to.

This cottage was lovely - a really lovely quiet retreat for us having had a ridiculous busy year up to June. We really appreciated the well stocked kitchen (with pans etc) and nice equipment plus the lovely space for entertaining had we had a group with us. We alo appreciated that the TV and Satellite worked well and the location was great with tRead morewo pubs nearby and the deli for buying dinner and lunch essentials. So close to the marshes for birdwatching and you can walk into Southwold via the bridge and back again over the ferry and evening walks on the beach - fabulous. I also recommend the coffee and cakes at the Tea Shack in the main village and the Anchor pub for food. We slept in the annex as this is the biggest room (and the main bedroom is somewhat dark i.e. no much light coming through), but the annex is superb with the doors on to the patio. In all we were able to completely relax and will likely book again. Hide

A lovely property, beautifully decorated situated in a gorgeous area. A pathway to main entrance at rear (currently grassed) and expansion to car parking area would be ideal for those with a trailer or two cars (large garden area that wraps around property) along with more comfortable sofas as found ourselves using the kitchen more than the livinRead moreg room due to having elderly parents with us. Would recommend for those that are more mobile (young or old). Would stay again if came with the younger family. Hide
