This charming rural hideaway for two is perfect for a couple and their canine companion to enjoy a holiday in the tranquil surroundings of the beautiful Norfolk Broads. The single-story brick cottage is set in the quiet village of Limpenhoe on the banks of the River Yare and has lovely views across the surrounding countryside. Close by is a wealth of peaceful walks beside the rivers and lakes of this unspoiled landscape. The picture-postcard village of Reedham, with pubs and shops, is within 2.5 miles.
A vaulted ceiling and beams enhance the rural character of this airy holiday home, with a wall of windows that flood the space with light. The open-plan interior has been cleverly planned to include a lounge/kitchen/diner and bedroom area, yet with ample room to relax. The kitchen area has a full-size fridge and breakfast bar, while the living area has comfortable seating. Twin beds can be made into a super-king-size and there is a separate shower room. Outside is a pretty terrace, with seating and a shared BBQ.
Head to Reedham to see the famous Victorian swing bridge and chain ferry across the Yare. Stretch your pup’s legs and paws on the popular Reedham Walk, an easy 1.5-mile stretch from the quay with lovely views and glimpses of wildlife. If more energetic hikes appeal, the long-distance Wherryman’s Way runs through the village. Tuck into fish and chips from the village (with doggy treats for your pup), as you watch the river traffic. Enjoy a voyage aboard a beautifully preserved Victorian steamboat at the Museum of the Broads in Stalham (16 miles). Dogs can join the trip at the skipper’s discretion. The museum’s fascinating exhibits tell the story of this remarkable network of waterways and its people.
