Settle into a comfortable, homely cottage in the heart of the Lake District, with miles of dog-walking routes from your doorstep. After exploring the nearby mountains, lakes and woodland, stop off for a drink at a canine-welcoming pub in the popular town of Ambleside. When you return to your home-away-from-home, dine alfresco if the weather permits. Or put your feet up and watch a film on the Smart TV in the living room.

As you step inside the property, you’ll find a porch space for wiping down muddy paws. On the ground floor are the two welcoming bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms – one king-size and one twin. There is also an additional bathroom with a shower and WC. Upstairs is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which is a bright and airy space with a modern kitchen with an island to offer extra prep space. There is also a dining table and chairs next to two sofas. Outside is a private garden with plants and trees as well as garden furniture where you and your pups can relax.

The small village of Chapel Stile is home to charming blue-grey stone buildings, a canine-welcoming pub and a shop (both less than 200 metres) for picking up essentials. A pretty river runs beside the village, and on the other side of it is another village, Elterwater (0.5 miles), which has a cocktail bar, coffee shop and restaurant. The popular village of Grasmere is 2.5 miles away, where you can find a 1600s gingerbread shop. Ambleside is 4.5 miles away, has a host of outdoor shops and is on the edge of the iconic Lake Windermere where you can enjoy lovely waterside walks and a variety of water sports.

We were three generations family staying in the house and the cottage. Oakdene is a beautiful place to stay with everything you need. Plenty of room to spread out and the spacious garden we all enjoyed a great place to chill out.

Very nicely apportioned and well equipped. Although cosy was completely fine for 6 adults - had 3 bathrooms, 2 of which were en-suite. Excellent location, great walks, good shop and fab pub. Good value. We had a lovely stay and would definitely come back.

Another great year at Oakdene Cottage. Very well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Lots of walks, long and short, available straight from the property. Great shop and pub in the village. Private parking for 2 cars (3 at a pinch) Would thoroughly recommend

The cottage is in a great location with lots of lovely walks from Chapel Stile. Longer walks were made possible by using excellent bus service. The accomodation was fine for a week for four of us.

Perfect for a large family celebration. Great property layout, quality fixtures & fittings. Quiet location but in easy reach of more facilities if needed. Lovely setting with walks from the door - easy or strenuous.

The downstairs bedrooms are fine (if a little chilly in January) and two ensuite bathrooms with a third house bathroom is a big plus. The cottage is in a wonderful location. It's very comfortable and well equipped and great bonus is to have dedicated, off-road parking. The kitchen units have been refreshed, with limited success, but at least tried ! Welcome pack was very poor. This was our fourth time here, and we'll be back !

Had a lovely time in this cottage. Handy for the bus just a few yards away. A convenience shop also very near. Lovely walks. Hair dryers are in the cottage although when asked they were not sure. Local pub near cottage too. Nice cottage.

Very comfortable, but there is a noise from the boiler room whenever someone opens a tap or flushes a toilet. Not an issue during the day but noticable at night when in the twin bedded room.
