Treat yourselves to a stay at this beautifully finished, riverside cottage in Lynmouth and have a Devon break that is filled with doggy delight. Sleeping six guests, this three-bedroom cottage is a superb base for those with canine companions as it offers the possibility of a magnificent array of riverside walks, cliff-top hikes and days out on dog-friendly beaches.
Enter the three-storey property with your faithful friend not far behind you. The light-filled, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner makes the perfect place for people to unwind and tired pups to steal a quick doze or two in the glow of the wood burner. Dish up doggy dinners in the farmhouse-style kitchen, prepare feasts for humans here too, and gather around the table at mealtimes. Settle down in front of a movie afterwards to unwind. A king-size bedroom and a family shower room are set up on the first floor of the property, while a twin, with sloping ceilings, is on the floor above. Take your canine friend into the courtyard garden with you on spring and summer days to enjoy the fresh air as you dine outside.
Set off inland on a 2-mile walk to the National Trust’s Watersmeet, where two rivers come together and you and your canine chum can explore 2,000 acres of estate, including ancient woodland and miles of footpath. Walk 450 metres along the river into Lynmouth to take your delighted dog to the beach or catch the cliff railway up to Lynton. From there, head out on cliff-top walks along the South West Coast Path or deep into Exmoor, where there is a myriad of fabulous footpaths to set tails wagging.
