Let your dog sun himself in the garden at this wonderful Instow cottage after days full of trips to local beaches and long coastal walks. This two-bedroom property sleeps five guests and offers superb accommodation for anyone wishing to bring canine companions along. Venture out along the area’s iconic Tarka Trail or South West Coast Path, enjoy time on the pretty patio and unwind in the lounge between holiday adventures – this comfortable retreat is perfect for a dog-friendly Devon break.

Open the front door to the welcoming cottage to find the heart of the holiday escape is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Put your paws and feet up in here after your adventures; feed your dog the fresh cuts bought from the local butcher’s shop and whip up tasty meals for everyone to enjoy at the table. Head through to the second lounge to enjoy some quiet time, perhaps with the TV on. There is a sofa bed in here and doors that can be opened onto the garden so your pup can pad outside on sunny days. One double bedroom, one twin room (which can also be arranged as a double if discussed in advance), and the family bathroom can be found at the top of a wrought-iron and wood staircase. Play fetch with your dog on the lawn to the front of the cottage or let him explore at the back as you dine outside and enjoy the sea views.

Wander 500 metres down to the beach at Instow, where there are two sections that welcome dogs all year round. Take a ride on the ferry over to Appledore in the high season, with your pup on the boat beside you. Plan day trips to the long sandy beach at Westward Ho!, 5 miles away, where there are sections that are dog friendly at all times if you enter via the pebble ridge bridge – check ahead for beach restrictions.

We chose this place primarily because we wanted a quiet location and we wanted somewhere with a parking space. All week it was lovely and peaceful. The location was perfect just 1.30 minutes from 3 pubs and the beach. As non dog owners and with pet allergies we were cautious about the house as it accepts dogs. We need not have worried as it was clRead moreean, apart from a few cobwebs and no signs of dog hairs or any dog smells. All carpets were clean and the place smelled fresh but I suppose it depends on how long ago dogs had previously stayed. The place is a little dated and could do with modernising but it was still comfortable and well equipped. Handwash and washing up liquid / sponges, toilet rolls are supplied. However compared to many other places we have stayed we were disappointed that no welcome pack, not even a bottle of milk or any tea bags/ coffee/ sugar. No shower gels. No kitchen roll which i'd consider essential for spills. The place is spacious downstairs and we enjoyed relaxing in the sun room for the majority of time. Being an end spot it has a decent garden with table and chairs outside but it is clearly visible to anyone using the car park. We decided to sleep in the front twin bedroom as the double at the back was very tight to move around the bed. The bed linen was nice quality and we were comfortable. It has a big walk in wardrobe but no light so it was difficult to see in there. Also being 5ft 3 the clothes rail was way too high to hang up clothes. The only noise was from the central heating pipes which did wake us up around 7.30 each day. Instow is very small so just an 8 minute walk to the other end of the quay but there is Appledore and Westward Ho! a 10 minute drive away. Despite what I have said I would happily return as overall it ticked the right boxes for what we wanted for a weeks holiday in the area. We had good communication from the owner. The only other thing I would say is that the check out being 9am is too early and at 8.40am the cleaner was waiting for us to leave. Hide

We had a lovely stay with our two dogs. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had a well equiped kitchen, including an air frier. Beautiful beach 3 minutes walk away. Useful porch for cleaning up dogs before entering the kitchen.

This is our third time at Dune View and we have had another wonderful holiday there. The cottage is in the best location ever, opposite the dunes and beach of Instow, and the cottage itself has everything you could possibly want in a holiday cottage. Very good utensils and equipment in the kitchen. A really comfy bed with good bed linen. A great gaRead morerden with all the garden furniture you could need. A great television and wi-fi and if you have a dog then you could not wish for a better place. Instow is so dog friendly and with the cottage opposite the beach that allows dogs all year and the Tarka trail running through the village, our dog Lola has the best time ever. Happy dog, happy mum and dad! Hide

We had a lovely time once again in Instow, Dune View was in a perfect position to cater for all our needs, there was everything which we needed at the cottage and our contact with the owner was lovely. We will hopefully be back and we recommend Dune View as a perfect quiet spot to enjoy Instow.

Great location. All very clean and comfortable The room with the double be is a tight space We had two single beds together and they are very comfortable. Both lounges are also comfortable and the back lounge is very light with a view over the dunes. The back porch is ideal to keep boots and shoes and good for wiping the dog.

This house is wonderfully situated for access to the beach and eateries. Its corner position with garden is great for anyone with dogs (and for children too) and having off street parking is another plus in this busy resort. Fairly spacious downstairs, but rather cramped upstairs. A second storey extension and a downstairs loo would make it perfectRead more, but we had a great week nevertheless and would have no hesitation in visiting again. Hide
