Escape to the peaceful countryside of the Esk Valley, in this fabulous holiday home on the outskirts of Ruswarp. Sleeping six guests and one large or two small hounds, the property is perfect for large families and groups of friends. The barn has a ground-floor bedroom, ramps, and an accessible wet room. From the property, enjoy day trips to Whitby (2 miles) and Scarborough (18 miles). Fishing and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged during your stay.

Enter the cottage into the shared lobby, before moving into the magnificent lounge/kitchen/diner. This spacious living area is bright and airy, with high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. A wood burner provides a cosy dozing spot for the woofers, and the large dining table is ideal for family celebrations and dinner parties. A stylish kitchen occupies one wall, and a comfortable lounge area is a perfect spot to enjoy movie nights together. There is a ground-floor twin bedroom, as well as a wet room. A feature staircase and walkway lead upstairs, where you’ll find a twin bedroom and a king-size with an en-suite bathroom. A ramp leads from the living area to the sunny patio, where there is furniture for al fresco dining and a lawn where the pups can play.

The stunning Esk Valley is a haven for walkers. From Ruswarp, you can pick up the Esk Valley Walk and the Cinder Track, both of which lead to Whitby. Whitby is a lively seaside resort, with a great range of independent shops and eateries, many of which welcome four-pawed visitors. You can also explore some of the town’s historic sites, such as the 12th-century church and Whitby Abbey. Stunning walks branch away from the town along the coast path, providing jaw-dropping views and excellent wildlife watching opportunities.

The Barn is a lovely place to stay. The property itself is a good size and very well equipped. The grounds are really pleasant, and the small villages either side are nice to visit. Also it is a great base for visiting the attractions of North Yorkshire.

The Barn was everything we were wanting. Beautiful property in perfect surroundings. Ruswarp is a lovely village with great pub and riverside cafes. We were glad we stayed here rather than in Whitby. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage, immaculate condition. Very comfortable. Just a small walk without a pavement to get to the village no lights.
