  • A beautiful holiday home in a quiet village near the Norfolk coast, just outside Holt
  • Large, enclosed garden with lawn and summer house
  • Spacious rooms throughout including a sunny conservatory for relaxation
Property code: OC-1369

This peaceful holiday home in the lovely village of Langham is a splendid location for dog lovers wishing to explore this part of the Norfolk coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The spacious stone and brick property sleeps six guests, plus two pets and is ideal for families or a group of friends. Langham has a fine, traditional village pub, while the picturesque village of Cley next the Sea (3.5 miles) has a delicatessen and tearoom, as well as its much-photographed windmill.

This light and bright house is attractively furnished and has a welcoming feel. The comfortable lounge, with a feature brick fireplace, has two sets of glass double doors. One leads to a large conservatory overlooking the garden and the other to the roomy, all-white kitchen with a pretty dining area. Upstairs are three attractive bedrooms: a king-size, super-king-size and a twin, each with country-style wooden furniture and white bed linen. A large, fully enclosed, private garden to the rear has ample space for canine companions, while children can play in the small summer house. A patio with garden furniture and a BBQ are the finishing touches.

Dogs are welcome on Cley’s shingle beach all year. However, protected ground-nesting birds are often there between April and August, so please keep Fido under close control and stay close to the shoreline. For a longer walk to stretch paws and legs, head for the Norfolk Coast Path. Well behaved seagoing canines will enjoy a boat trip from Blakeney Quay (4 miles) to see England’s largest sea colony. Polite pets are also welcome on the North Norfolk Steam Railway, or Poppy Line, a 5-mile stretch between seaside Sheringham (10 miles) and the market town of Holt (5.5 miles).

  • 3 bedrooms - 1 king-size, 1 twin,  1 super-king bed

We thought Avocet Cottage was great. Very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Location is very convenient for many places on the North Norfolk coast. We would rent it again.

Excellent base for exploring North Norfolk. The property was comfortable and well stocked, with a sizeable enclosed rear garden which proved ideal for the dog. Overall, very recommended.

Perfect location with easy access to local places of interest. Superb house with everything you could possibly need. The weather was kind to us so we were able to enjoy breakfast on the patio on a couple of occasions. Pub within waking distance which was very friendly and served delicious food. Thoroughly recommend Avocet House

House excellent but a big eucalyptus tree I. The back garden shed its leaves hourly, leaving dead leaves all over the lawn and outside table and chairs. I was given an incorrect key code by the booking agency so could not get into the property until the housekeeper arrived. She was very helpful and explained the code was one digit wrong.

We had a lovely week at Avocet House. The house is spacious and very comfortable. The back garden is totally secure which was ideal for us as we have an inquisitive dog. The beautiful, sandy beaches of Wells, Holkham and Brancaster are about a 20 minute drive away and have dog friendly areas all year. We didn't eat in the local pub (Blue Bell) Read morebut did have a very good Sunday lunch at The Three Swallows at Cley next the Sea. Hide
