Just 13 miles from Southwold and the Suffolk coast, this delightful barn is tucked away within gorgeous countryside and is perfect as a tranquil escape for couples or small families. Lovely walks surround the property, and when you return home you can choose whether to relax in your open-plan lounge, dine alfresco or head to the games barn and get competitive with your fellow guests.
One of four holiday escapes created from a 19th century barn, this welcoming retreat offers a light-filled, comfortable space in which to unwind. A Shaker-style kitchen fills one end, there’s an oak table for sociable dining, and after supper you can cosy up on the leather sofas, your pup at your feet, and watch the TV. Both bedrooms offer beds which can be set up as super-king-size or twins (please specify in advance); one has a spacious en-suite shower room and the other has use of a bathroom with a separate shower. From your living area there are wonderful views over the complex’s pond and fields, and you can step straight out through French doors (with two steps down) to your private, gravelled patio area, and enjoy drinks and meals while your hound or your children play. You might also want to head over to the shared games barn, where you’ll find books, a TV, card tables and pool.
The barn is nestled in the village of All Saints South Elmham in the Waveney Valley, which is dotted with picturesque villages and historic market towns. Both Halesworth and Bungay, for example, are reachable within around 5 miles. Hire a boat in Beccles, 11.5 miles, to explore the waters of the Broads, or head to the seaside at charming Southwold, where you can walk the pier, romp on the beach or dine on delicious local seafood.
