The whole family will have a ball at this North Cornwall two-bedroomed country cottage. Close to the coast and a pair of Cornwall''s most popular holiday destinations, it has a pretty garden where children and their canine pal can play.
Enjoy the best of all worlds with a break at this characterful stone cottage. Located in Penrose, a hamlet surrounded by countryside, it’s a tranquil retreat where you can enjoy family time after a busy day discovering the beach-dotted coastline close by. Sure to be the centre of much activity, a fabulous bespoke kitchen greets guests. With feature brickwork and a beamed ceiling, it promises no-fuss meal prep and a place to feed Rover. Adjacent is the lounge, where a comfortable sofa sits before a wood burner. Beyond, an intimate dining area opens onto the patio, and completing the ground floor layout is a contemporary bathroom. Once Rover’s settled for the night, take the stairs to the first floor where there’s a romantic main bedroom with an intricately carved double bed frame and sloping ceiling and, leading from here, a pretty twin-bedded room. Back at ground level, French doors lead from the dining area onto a south-facing patio where you’ll find seating, a BBQ and steps up to the cottage garden where there’s further furniture and a lawn bordered by mature shrubs and flowers.
The hamlet of Penrose is just a 2.5-mile drive to Portcothan, a cove backed by lush grassy dunes and with a sandy beach that connects at low tide with others to the north and south. Dog-friendly, the beach sits on the South West Coast Path; it’s around 1.5 miles to Bedruthan Steps, one of Cornwall''s most dramatic sights which gets its name from the huge slate outcrops scattered along the beach. Other must-see locations include lively Newquay, less than 10 miles south of your doorstep and, just over 6 miles north, Padstow which is famed for its fine dining scene, pretty harbour and dog-friendly attractions.
