This charming cottage is set in a peaceful corner of the Esk Valley and is just 2 miles from the Yorkshire coast. The property sleeps four humans and either one large or two small hounds, making it an excellent couples’ retreat or rural escape for a small family. You’ll have some fabulous dog walks on your doorstep, including the Esk Valley Walk and the Cinder Track, both of which lead to Whitby. Fishing and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged during your stay.
Enter the cottage via a shared lobby, and into a hallway where you can store your walking gear. The property is decorated in neutral tones, and beautiful accessories and soft furnishings give it a homely feel. At the heart of the home is a spacious kitchen/diner, with everything you need to cater for the group and a large dining table for sharing mealtimes together. This room leads out into the garden, so it’s a great place for the woofers to hang out. After dinner, relax in the lounge to watch the Smart TV/DVD, with your four-pawed chums stretched out in front of the wood burner. Upstairs, two inviting bedrooms await: choose from a twin or a king-size, both with en-suite facilities. Outside, there’s a sunny patio where you can dine alfresco and take in the beautiful surroundings.
The picturesque village of Ruswarp is a great base for keen walkers. From the village, follow the walking/cycling route along the old railway line to the seaside resort of Whitby. Alternatively, head to Grosmont (5 miles) to hop on the paw-friendly heritage steam train to the coast. Whitby is packed with woof-friendly attractions and eateries. Enjoy boat trips along the coast, explore the ruins of Whitby Abbey, or join the Cleveland Way to the smugglers’ haunt of Robin Hood’s Bay.
