Hounds and humans will be in heaven on a stay at this characterful property which sits just 6 miles from the year-round dog-friendly beach of Sizewell for days spent beside the sea. The property has been thoughtfully styled to ensure you feel at home from the moment you step through the door, with quirks such as exposed bricks, beams and contemporary touches adding something special.

The living room is the heart of the home with a wood burner-effect gas fire set into a beautiful brick fireplace at its centre. Three leather armchairs and a leather sofa offer seating for all the family, with plenty of space at your feet for Fido to nap. Chefs will be delighted by the bright, airy kitchen which features a splash of green to get the creative juices flowing and ample surface area for preparation. For family feasts, the dining room offers a place to gather together to share meals and stories with natural light pouring in through the windows. When a little peace is needed, the sunny conservatory is an idyllic spot to sit with a good book or a cup of tea. Upstairs are three bedrooms, starting off with a neutral double boasting an en-suite shower room. In addition, there is a second double room and a single room, both tastefully decorated to ensure a good night’s rest. To the rear of the property is a blissful enclosed garden with sunny and shady spots for your four-legged friend to run, hide and play.

Aldeburgh is a wonderful place for a break away with plenty of dog-friendly eateries and attractions on your doorstep. Take the Sailors’ Pathway along the River Alde to Snape Maltings for a tranquil trek with your hound in tow stretching for 9 miles and offering plenty of places to stop off for a tasty treat along the route. For pups who love to feel the sand on their paws, why not spend a day in Southwold and visit Walberswick Beach (20 miles) where Fido can sniff out the best sticks, search through the dunes and soak up the sea breeze?

This is an old property with a lot of character and is very comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere. The cottage ideally placed, being very near the town of Aldeburgh and a perfect location for exploring this part of Suffolk. There is an enclosed garden, thats perfect for a dog and to sit out in.

The cottage was really roomy, with several living areas to choose from (dining room, conservatory we didn't even use the sitting room, but it would have been cosy for a cooler time of year). There are two staircases, so I don't know why someone complained about the steepness just use the other set!! All beds were comfy and the place was spotless.Read more It was a real bonus having an enclosed garden for the dog, and reading in the shade. One tip regarding the town I'd recommend booking a table to eat out as we struggled to find somewhere spontaneously on a bank holiday. Hide

We had a lovely time at the cottage. It was incredibly comfortable and offered plenty of space for three of us and our two dogs to stretch out. The welcome pack of wine, tea, coffee, and biscuits was a beautiful touch that made us feel right at home straight away. We did have a slight issue with the dishwasher not working when we arrived, but the Read morehosts were fantasticthey had it sorted and fixed during our stay with minimal disruption. spacious and comfortable, TV connection kept dropping out. The garden was secure for dogs, incuding an escape artist, but I had to pull the wire netting over a space on the right of the gate, and used a loose post to cover the space on the left of the gate, otherwise my dog would have got through. There is a really handy short dog walk through the Read moregarden gate, left through the surgery car park, back on to the main road, and it is immediately to the right, two pleasant fields, ideal for shorter walks, with a poo bin in between. Aldborough very dog friendly. If you want a sandy beach for them, instead of all the pebbles, head out of Southwold towards Walberswick, and park up there. Hide

Items advised by previous clients in May had not been attended to. Garden and bench unusable. Hedges overgrown. Lots of trips and fall areas. Single bed unusable. Totally loose and mattress completely shot. Property needs money spent to make it habitable!

Lovely little cottage tucked away down a tiny turn off that you almost miss it ( look for 5 & 7 on left side post to turn down to 9 at the end). Lovely beams in living room. Be wary of steep stairs to upstairs, uneven floors and low doorways. Lovely garden and all a stones throw from the small Town & beach. Easy to get to many places including SoutRead morehwold & Jimmys Farm. My 3 dogs loved the many walks around the area. A dog beach just north of Aldeburgh was pebbles but the sand beach at the end of Southwold was perfect. Just needs a little decor update and if they dont want dogs upstairs the stair gates need to be permanently in place. Hide

Lovely cottage in a great location, the seafront and the main high street an easy walk away. Nice big garden and secure for our two dogs. We would recommend and hope to return.

This cottage is not 4 stars anymore, it obviously was when it was rated 6 years ago but it needs a lot of work and attention to detail to get back to that standard. Deep clean inside needed, textiles are now 6 years and need washing. Outside of property needs pressure washing and painting. Attention to detail and TLC is required and lacking. This cottage was a real disappointment for something graded 4*. The location is great. A previous post has said the property looked tired. I'd echo that. The level of cleanliness was poor. I sent several pictures of grubiness and ingrained dirt to the company. There were lots of things that needed minor repairs or upgrading. The equipment was poor Read morestandard particularly wine glasses, again not in my view 4* standard, especially when compared to other places I've stayed with similar rating. Hide

Great location. House is definitely quirky, with uneven floors and low doorways and a very steep staircase, as well as a normal one. Its maybe better suited to summer stays rather than winter, as heating was not sufficient.

We enjoyed our stay and would certainly look this cottage again. It's in a great location a few minutes walk to the beach or town and links to footpaths. A nice size enclosed garden for dogs too.

Loved this very interesting and spacious cottage. Good location with excellent dog-proof garden. Lovely kitchen providing all equipment you might need. Aldeburgh very dog friendly with most eating places/pubs allowing dogs. Just be aware of uneven floor levels throughout the cottage, particularly upstairs.

Fabulous cottage full of character, well equipped, comfy beds. Low doors may be difficult if you are tall. Perfect garden for the dogs, very secure. We loved it. A great base to explore Suffolk with many nice walks close by.

I love this cottage but over the last eight years I have watched it deteriorate. So sad as its one of the perfect hidden gems in Aldeburgh.

Lovely, characterful cottage in an excellent location. The bag of welcome food gifts was a delightful surprise. The car parking caused an issue because it was very difficult to squeeze past the neighbour's car on the drive.
