Southwold is an ideal family destination – there’s so much to enjoy here, you can unpack, park your car and forget about it until going-home time. The pier, promenade and beach are within half a mile of your doorstep – an easy stroll along quiet residential roads – so bring buckets, spades and coins for the slot machines. Alternatively, let the little ones loose at Tibby’s Green playground, just 50m away; once they’ve let off steam you can wander into town, where well-behaved children and pets are welcomed in many of the shops, pubs and eateries. For a real leg-stretcher, walk across the common to the harbour to try your hand at crabbing. You can buy freshly caught fish here, too.
