Property code: OC-MAIL1

Part of a beautiful Georgian vicarage, this delightful home offers the best of both coast and country living in glorious North Devon. Ideal for couples or a family along with their four-legged friends, discover wonderful beaches, spectacular cliff-top walks and the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, before returning to your warming wood burner.

With a subtle mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings and decor, you will feel right at home in this charming property. There is a spacious open-plan living space on the ground floor, perfect for spending quality time with loved ones. The lounge area has two full-height Georgian windows with pretty wooden shutters that overlook the garden. The roaring wood burner is sure to be popular with the pooch, as is the large lawn with plenty of space for a game of fetch. Whip up a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen, then dine inside or out either at the breakfast table in the kitchen or the garden''s lovely picnic bench. From the living room, stairs lead up to the first floor, where you will find two light and airy bedrooms and a contemporary family bathroom, ideal for soaking tired legs at the end of the day.

Though small, the village of Mortehoe is home to numerous shops, cafes and restaurants. There''s a handy fish and chip shop if you don’t feel like cooking and a welcoming local pub where Fido can join you at the bar. The lively beachside village of Woolacombe is under 1.5 miles away. There are lots of cafes, pubs and restaurants to try and the sweeping golden sands of Woolacombe Beach are open to hounds year-round. There is a seasonal dog restriction on the section of the beach in front of the car park in the summer months; however, this is a very small area in comparison to the size of the beach, and there is plenty of space for Rover to roam outside of this zone. For walkies to remember, join the South West Coast Path and head out towards magnificent cliff-top scenery and inspiring ocean views on a journey to get tails wagging.

We have previously stayed at Wykeham iat the Old Vicarge, it holds many special family memories and we have never been disappointed. But this time we thought we would try Mailscott, this is a tastefully furnished cottage, it's not ultra modern but if you looking forward to coming back from long days out walking to a cosy comfortable, clean cottageRead more with a wonderful log burner then this is for you. The view from the full length windows in the living room cast light all over the openplan living area, and in return you get a lovely view of the garden and Mortehoe church beyond. Yhis location orovides excellent walking, whether it"s to Mortehoe which has a delicious fish and chip shop as well as 2 pubs, or Woolacombe taking in the magnicien views on the way down, or any of the other fabulous walks. To get these great costalviews of this rugged coastline, you need to takeonto account steep climbs but so worth it. If you have dog then they wo t be disappointed either, great walks, and they are even lowedon the beach, in certain areas, their also made very welcome in the pubs. This is a real gem of a coastline and we come as often as we can but always to The Old Vicarage, we'll if it feels right why change!! Hide

This was our second stay at Mailscot. It's a lovely cottage and has been refurbished since our last visit to a high standard with good quality bed linen, pillows, duvet and towels. Although it is a shared garden we had it to ourselves and even though you are in the heart of Mortehoe it is very quiet and very pretty. The ceilings in all of the roomsRead more are high which is a great bonus as we are both tall! We'll definitely stay at Mailscot again - it's in a great location and is very comfortable. Hide

Be aware if staying with a young child and you require a travel cot and high chair - we found the travel cot soaking wet, dirty and mouldy. The high chair was found stained and quite dirty. Overall the property was ok, rough round the edges and needs a bit of love.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful, and the location was perfect for coastal walks and trips to the local villages. The cleanliness could have been improved somewhat; cobwebs and dusting needed in places, but the beds were super comfortable and the log fire was cosy and welcome after long walks. We would 100% stay again.

Lovely 4 bed property within walking distance of the village centre. A high standard and very comfortable. Good position for walks from the door although you need to be fit as the coastal path is steep with many ups and downs.
