For a romantic retreat away in the Lake District, this cottage is a fantastic choice with whimsical views over lake Windermere and an abundance of walking trails from Ambleside just a mile away where your dogs can lead the way to adventure.

The living room/dining area is traditionally styled with charming touches throughout from the book lined shelves to the framed pictures and warming wood burner. There are two comfortable sofas for seating and a small TV for quiet evenings in, as well as a beautiful dark wood table with chairs for four guests. Throughout the property is original flagstone flooring, with the added benefit of underfloor heating to keep you cosy during the winter months. A door from the living room leads through to the kitchen which offers picturesque views out of the window making cooking up a feast or doing the washing up an enjoyable experience. Up a steep staircase there is a tasteful king-size bedroom with pops of colour and a built-in wardrobe for storage, perfect for couples. The second bedroom is a double, decorated in calming pastel tones with a chair to put down your belongings or sit and read a book by the window. Both bedrooms also boast use of the shared dressing room off the landing, as well as use of the stylish family bathroom with glossy black tiles and a p-shaped bath. Outside is a shared cobbled courtyard, as well as a patio with a table and chairs so that you can sit and soak up the lakeside views.

Located within the hamlet of Clappersgate, this peaceful location offers easy access to an array of Lake District destinations, with Ambleside (1 mile) boasting a plethora of dog-friendly eateries and fantastic walking trails where you’re sure to have a ball. For a day out on the water, head to the National Trust’s Steam Yacht Gondola (7 miles) where pups are welcomed onto the outer decks to enjoy the stunning scenery as you glide over Coniston Water.

This was a fantastic find. A very cosy cottage with all amenities provided. Great views and an excellent location...It might not be the most up to date cottage, but it proved to be one of the best cottages that I have stayed in at the Lake District. Walking straight from the door to Grasmere, Ambleside, Elterwater, Chapel Stile and Langdale...excelRead morelent location. Would definitely recommend Hide
