Well located in the bustling town of Braunton, walk out your door and discover quaint shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants to cater for all tastes, many of which encourage families to bring along their canine companions. The Tarka Trail passes through the town, a 180-mile, figure-of-eight loop inspired by the route travelled by Tarka the Otter. The trail takes in some of North Devon’s most spectacular countryside scenery, with plenty for curious pups to investigate along the way and many other pooches to meet. The sweeping beach of Saunton Sands is less than 3 miles from your door, where, excluding one small area, four-legged friends can roam freely year-round. For history hounds, the National Trust’s Arlington Court (13 miles) is a Regency house with an impressive collection of horse-drawn vehicles set in a picturesque garden. The carriage museum, garden and wider estate are open to both those with four legs and those with two.
