Stay in a peaceful spot with your family near Ambleside at this converted farmhouse dating back to 1850 and let your dog lead the way to adventure on walks past Loughrigg Tarn, Grasmere and the magnificent Langdale Valleys.

Upon opening the front door you’re greeted by the charming kitchen which has beautiful wooden cabinets and a soft grey tiled backsplash for an enjoyable cooking area. Next door, the dining room seating four is warm and welcoming with a large window looking out over the garden and a fantastic wood burner set within a fireplace. The living room features earthy tones, with a sumptuous sofa and two armchairs placed around a roaring open fire and a TV for entertainment. Upstairs, the first of the bedrooms is a characterful king-size with gorgeous views out of the window, whilst a further two single bedrooms complete the sleeping arrangements with thoughtful touches to have the children feeling instantly at home. Completing the property is the family bathroom with a wood panelled bathtub, shower overhead and grey tiled walls for a relaxing place to enjoy a long soak. Outside, the private enclosed garden is an adventure in itself where children and pups are sure to have a ball making their way up the secret path to the peak of the garden for fabulous views and exploring the quaint stream.

From Skelwith Bridge there is an array of meandering routes to discover with local eateries along the route to refuel you for your adventure, including a linear walk to Elterwater spanning just under 3 miles which takes you past the roaring fall of Skelwith Force where you can stop off for a bite to eat at the riverside cafe. Alternatively, opt for a slightly more challenging route towards the market town Ambleside, past the beauty of Loughrigg Tarn and explore Waterhead Pier.

What a delightful cottagel Very homely atmosphere with beautiful local pictures amidst more personal ones dotted around. Tasteful carpets at the same time as being sensible for a holiday cottage! Clearly people have loved coming on holiday here for years and the owners have had many returning guests - unsurprisingly. Very spacious house. Sheets aRead morend bedding exceedingly comfortable. Warm! Great to have a nice shower and bath with hot water never running out! The location could not have been better with a most beautiful (and secure) garden with "rooms", a variety of plants and trees and birds. Great to have a secure place for our dog who loved it. Small little stream in garden so you can hear the gentle burbling of the brook. Set just in front of Loughrigg Fell with with the bonus of a 5 minute walk to the Tarn where you can swim in the clear clean water; only a 10 minute drive to Ambleside - a peaceful iddylic setting which made for a memorable holiday. A special thing too to gaze at the stars so clearly at night without any light pollution to blot their view. We'd definitely come again but realise we'd have to book very early so as not to be disappointed. Thank you! Hide
