Stylish and trendy, maintaining period features like beamed ceilings and panelled walls, this coastal cottage located in the heart of Whitby’s old town is just a stick’s throw from plenty of iconic walks your pup will go mutts for.

After a day’s adventure, the open-plan living/dining/kitchen room comprising the ground floor sets the stylish and luxurious tone of the whole cottage that you’ll go mutts for. Take the local produce you’ve fetched and get creative in the kitchen before enjoying a family meal on the contemporary dining table set as your canine companion naps at your feet. Upstairs, there’s a chic walk-in shower in the family bathroom and a double bedroom with a beautiful, beamed ceiling opposite. Lead the way up to the second-floor twin bedroom to enjoy amazing views of the harbour and beyond.

The quintessential seaside town of Whitby comprises a maze of historic cobbled streets lined with several independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs, leading down to a bustling harbour where you and your canine companion can sniff the salty sea air and pick up plenty of locally caught produce. Beyond the harbour, head down to the sheltered Tate Hill Beach less than a mile away to treat your four-legged friend to a jolly paddle along the spectacular coastline. The cottage is quaint, and has a charm of the past about it. The decor was nice, not too modern, but in keeping with the cottage. The front door leads through a second door, straight into the kitchen/living room. The kitchen windows had the bottom halves frosted, which we didn't see a reason for. The stairs are reasonably wide with a handrail. Read moreThere are approximately 12 stairs to the toilet/wet room and double bedroom. There are another 12 stairs to the top bedroom with an armchair and table and chairs, 2 single beds and the most wonderful view over the harbour. One issue for us was that the refuse bins are in the way to get to the little yard at the back of the cottage, took a bit of squeezing past, and there are stairs down to the yard. We ended up walking our dog the front way of the cottage instead. There is nowhere else the bins can go really. Tv upstairs in both bedrooms seems to get better reception than the kitchen one. Not that we watched a lot of tv. We had lovely weather all week, which was a real bonus. The cottage is ideally situated for Old Whitby and also across the bridge to the newer part. There are some lovely walks. We liked the one at the top of the 199 steps, turn right and is a nice circular walk back into town, with stunning views. We found the town to be extremely dog friendly, and because we did not travel by car, we met a lot of interesting people with local knowledge. Not having a car we relied on public transport. Taxi, train and bus are all good, although the bus got crowded at times. We would definitely come to this cottage again. We have stayed in many cottages over the years, and this is one of the more roomier ones, as well as one of the oldest period cottages. Hide

This cottage is at an exceptional level of cleanliness and fully equipped with everything you need. Being 6ft 3in I was a little worried about ceiling heights, but all rooms had lovely high ceilings, even the attic bedroom was spacious and the views spectacular

A lovely very old cottage which oozes charm out of every corner. Very well equipped for modern day life whilst retaining its heritage in the old part of the town. Very well positioned for the local amenities. Our first trip to Whitby and hopefully not our last. Heating very good and under local control so you can easily adjust to suit yourselves, pRead moreersonally we found we had to turn it down as was very warm in the cottage. Lovely walks from the doorstep, did not have to us3 our car during our stay, easily found a parking spot not too far from the cottage. Lovely views of the harbour from the top floor. Hide

Lovely cottage in a fantastic location. Well equipped, clean and cosy. Even though it is within a stone's throw of the 199 steps and in the heart of the old east side, because the cottage is tucked away it's in a peaceful spot and minutes away from Tate Hill beach.

The overall was brilliant. One negative was the size of the TV. No bigger than a portable. We know you dont go on holiday to watch TV. But after a days walking in the freezing cold & its raining, a decent telly is a must. Ended up watching the tv in the bedroom most nights. As that was bigger

The cottage was lovely, in a great location and home from home. It had everything you needed and more. Dont let the no parking included put you off, we didnt struggle even on Goth weekend. Lovely and warm and everything needed was included.

Beautiful cottage. Extremely clean. Great location. Parking in Whitby is difficult so once we found a parking space we didnt risk going out in the car in case we couldnt park on return. Obviously this is no reflection on the accommodation which is lovely. The upstairs bedroom is very relaxing with great views over the harbour.
