Property code: OC-WA043

Set within miles of spectacular open countryside that your canine companion will go mutts for, this cosy and quaint cottage reflects the rugged yet beautiful scenery that surrounds it, with plenty of fantastic walks beginning from the doorstep.

The best remedy after a long day exploring your surroundings is the welcoming open-plan kitchen/dining/living room, complete with a fetching beamed ceiling above the contemporary kitchen and living space, ideal for cooking, socialising and relaxing as a family, with a gorgeous wood burner to keep toes and paws toasty. Your canine companion will love curling up in the adjoining dining area with a beautiful skylight and expansive patio doors providing some lovely warm spots to take a snooze. The ground-floor bedroom with an en-suite wet room makes washing off mucky pups as easy as retreating upstairs to dream of tomorrow’s adventures in the further two en-suite bedrooms. Unleash your four-pawed pal into the enclosed patio garden, perfect for little paws to safely sniff around, before heading into the 4-acre field across the road for epic walkies.

Clinging to the hillside, the traditional fishing village of Staithes boasts a rich naval history and was home to the famous Royal Navy captain and explorer, Captain James Cook. Explore the old village through its fascinating alleys and ginnels; your canine companion will love bounding down Dog Loup Alley, the narrowest alley in the world at just 18 inches wide. Treat your pup to an afternoon sniffing around the rock pools at the harbour, 1.5 miles away. For longer walkies, join the Cleveland Way National Trail, 11.5 miles away, a 190-mile trail from Helmsley to Filey which takes you along the rugged yet beautiful North Yorkshire coastline.

A beautiful place in very peaceful surroundings, and our host Nicky was wonderful - so helpful throughout our stay and made lots of great recommendations about the surrounding area! Dangerously comfortable beds and the water pressure in the bathrooms is excellent, made having a bath a real treat. The kitchen is simply equipped (make sure you bring Read moreyour own seasonings: salt, pepper, etc.) but you can easily make a nice cooked breakfast and some basic meals. Great to have the games room to wander over to as well! Accessibility: the bathroom on the ground floor was perfect for our needs! The bed is lovely and plush but also quite high, depending on disability it may be useful to bring a bedrail with straps that can be fitted under the mattress (again, Nicky was fantastically kind and helpful when we realised this and had to organise a quick order/ delivery for one of my grandparents, and she brought over a step to make getting in and out of bed even easier). For guests bringing dogs: although the property is dog friendly, dogs are not permitted upstairs and they can't be left in the property unattended. The paddock just across the road was great for our dogs to run around in but isn't completely fenced in. There are several gaps leading out onto the road; although it's quiet here I'd recommend being careful if you know you have a dog with poor recall or a dog that likes to roam. Hide

A really enjoyable stay and with wonderful views from the field across the road for walking the dog. I should imagine that it would be lovely in the warmer weather to sit there looking over the valley and out to sea. All rooms were beautifully decorated and very modern appliances. You may need to use your phone as a hotspot to boost the Wifi in theRead more bedrooms, but it worked fine using this. Very hospitable host and we appreciated having a few things to start us off e.g. bin bags, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc. Take-aways can be found in Loftus and supermarkets near Saltburn both about 10-15 minutes away, but local Co-op was good, too. The games room was useful and we enjoyed doing the puzzles supplied. I would recommend accessing the cottage from the A174 end as the approach from the other side was very narrow and quite tricky in places. Overall, an attentive host and everything provided that you could need. Hide
