Property code: OC-WAH585

A handsome Victorian property in the middle of popular walking country just 5 miles from the seaside town of Barmouth. Perfect for dog-owning families or groups keen to explore the coast and Snowdonia National Park, the property features an attractive lounge, spacious kitchen/diner and a small terrace area at the front.

The three-storey property is a former minister’s house and is attached to a chapel which is still occasionally used by the owners. Original features, including stripped-pine floorboards, panelled doors and large sash windows, are found throughout, with bright and characterful soft furnishings strewn across large, airy rooms. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is a comfortable place to collar friends and family for good food, catch-ups or film nights while the dogs nap to their hearts’ content by the wood burner. Leading off this area is a handy utility room and a shower room. When bedtime comes, the welcoming embrace of a double, a twin and a single bedroom await, along with a family bathroom. A spacious double bedroom lies on the second floor. A small terrace is a convenient base for morning coffees, planning the day ahead or just admiring the scenery.

The property’s close proximity to the coast and Snowdonia National Park makes it perfect for active groups who love the great outdoors. Walkers, dogs and cyclists can explore the Mawddach Trail (2 miles), a route that follows the vast Mawddach Estuary. Dolgellau (5 miles), near Cader Idris, offers a range of dog-friendly pubs and other establishments, and it''s the same distance to Barmouth, a seaside town with a dog-friendly beach.

The cottage is lovely and in a great position. We had a lovely time. Apart from the cleanliness issue the parking description needs more detail. If you have a large car it is very difficult to park and if you have a rear bike rack this needs to be put on and taken off at the bottom of the hill as the slope on the driveway gets in the way. - ResponsRead moree from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We can confirm we will discuss these issues with the owner and also look at the parking instructions Hide

Beautiful location but you sacrifice close amenities like pub or shop which we knew when researching before booking. Just have to drive everywhere which wasnt a issue for us. Loved the waterfall walk right on doorstep that takes you into mountains. 10 min drive to Barmouth from house. We just used the house as sleep base but property did have a wRead moreii and dvds. Property does have FTTP internet. We would return to this property. Overall a good property and stay. Hide

A great house and fantastic location. We spent a week here with our three grown up children and grandchild. Its maybe in need of a little TLC, but we didnt mind and felt relaxed and at home. The wood burner was great and there were lots of games and dvds to keep us occupied. Not that we needed them as we spent as much time as we could out and aboutRead more in the breathtaking scenery. Thankyou for letting us stay in your lovely property which has amazing views of the mawddach trail. The only negative I would say about this property is the road up to the house is very steep and the parking from road to drive is very tight. I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone with mobility issues.

We have stayed in a lot of cottages/airbnbs/vrbos and we loved this property. The lounge is cosy and has a wood burning stove which is lovely for the cold evenings (You can buy bags of logs from the petrol station on the main road outside Dolgellau for for 4.25) The kitchen is fully equipped and the bedrooms have very comfortable matresses. The prRead moreoperty is located half way between Dolgellau and Barmouth but it doesn't feel out of the way. The view from the front of the property is absolutely stunning and the inside has some great artwork. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 year old and would definitely rent this property again. Hide
