This charming, Grade II-listed cottage is in the rural village of Robertsbridge, within the High Weald National Landscape. The property sleeps seven guests (with a maximum of five adults) and one canine companion, making it a great base for large families. Nearby days out include the picture-postcard village of Rye (14.5 miles) and the seaside town of Hastings.
The period cottage is full of character, with beautiful, exposed beams and a roaring open fire set in an original inglenook fireplace. On the ground floor you''ll find a cosy lounge with comfortable seating to sink into after a long dog walk and a TV/DVD for enjoying movie nights. Adjoining the lounge is an elegant dining room, where you can share family mealtimes and celebrate special occasions. With wooden floors and French doors leading to the garden, this is a good spot to set up the dog bed. The separate, country-style kitchen has everything needed for a self-catering holiday, along with underfloor heating and a cute breakfast bar. Completing the ground floor is a second lounge area and a handy utility room. Upstairs, three country cottage-style bedrooms await, one of which is a children''s room with bunk beds, a single bed, and plenty of books and toys. The other bedrooms include a king-size bed and a welcoming double. A family bathroom with underfloor heating rounds off the accommodation. Outside, the attractive garden has a large, enclosed lawn where Rover can burn off steam, as well as a pretty patio area for al fresco dining.
There are some great dog walks in and around the village, including a picturesque route through the High Weald countryside to Bodiam Castle. The historic market town of Battle is 5 miles away and has some excellent, paw-friendly eateries. You and your pooch can also visit the famous 1066 battleground.
