This waterfront retreat overlooks the turquoise tidal waters of the River Gannel, with views stretching across the estuary towards Crantock Beach. Ideal for families and groups, it makes a well-equipped coastal base with beaches on all sides. The Gannel Estuary is rich with wildlife and offers crabbing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding along its banks. At low tide, follow the riverbank to reach the sandy shores and dunes of Crantock Beach (1.5 miles on foot). At high tide during the summer, catch the seasonal ferry across instead. On the opposite headland, Fistral Beach (under 1 mile) draws surfers with its Atlantic swells. Beyond the main bay, the cliff-top path leads to quieter coves around Little Fistral (1.5 miles on foot), where rock pools and shingle spill out between the headlands. Newquay's historic Huer's Hut (1 mile on foot) sits on the headland above, marking the start of a coastal walk linking the town's seven beaches.
