Tucked away down a quiet backstreet in the heart of the pretty village of Appledore, this wonderful home, with its cute courtyard, is a fantastic option for families with canine companions looking to discover glorious North Devon.
With an appealing blend of preserved original features, modern comforts and a distinctly seaside feel, this is a welcoming home to return to after a day of exploring the area. Entering the lounge, characterful beams line the ceiling, and plenty of plush sofa seating is arranged around a cosy wood burner set within a feature fireplace that Rover is sure to adore. Whip up a storm in the well-equipped contemporary kitchen, then share a meal in the bright and airy dining room or head outside to the nautical-themed courtyard garden where outdoor seating awaits. At the end of the day, climb the stairs to the first floor, where you’ll find a double bedroom and a family bathroom. The two twin rooms are on the second floor and enjoy gorgeous views over the village towards the sea from their elevated position.
With its pretty streets lined with galleries, restaurants, tearooms and cafes, there’s a lot to sample in Appledore. Don''t miss out on the excellent local pubs, where canine companions are welcome to join you at the bar. For a day out at the seaside, hop onboard the seasonal ferry, which takes passengers and pets across to Instow and head to the huge sandy beach. In summer months, there is a dog restriction zone on a section of Instow Beach, but there is plenty of space outside of this area for four-legged friends to frolic year-round. Alternatively, the northern end of Westward Ho! Beach offers year-round unrestricted doggie access, 2.5 miles away. Nearby Exmoor National Park is home to some of the country’s most dramatic scenery and offers walking opportunities galore over high tors and through lush wooded valleys. Take the 13-mile road to Clovelly and visit this unique cliffside preservation village with cobbled steps leading to a traditional harbour where dogs on leads can join you too.
