6 people plus 1 VIP (very important pup) can stay at this traditional house in central Whitby with accommodation that includes four versatile bedrooms over three storeys. Equally suited to an extended family, or family and friends, this spacious cottage-style property offers comfortable living with loads of characterful and quirky nautical touches throughout. The historic town centre is within 0.5 miles, just waiting to be discovered. But the best bit for any canine chum is surely the beach which is within 1 mile, perfect for extra-long walkies!

This attractive and family-friendly townhouse welcomes you into a generous open-plan lounge/diner on the ground floor. This lovely room has a beamed ceiling, an ornamental fireplace and original doors, with sofas, a dining table for six and a well-equipped kitchen. Sleeping quarters comprise one double leading onto a bedroom with bunk beds, which are both on the lower ground level, accessed via cottage-style stairs. On the first floor, again accessed via cottage-style stairs, there’s another charming double and a triple bedroom with three single beds; both bedrooms are in the eaves with rustic beams and wood panelling. Access to the shared patio and garden with bench seating is from the lower-ground double bedroom.

There’s a lot to explore in Whitby with its old streets packed with fishing heritage, history and independent shops and eateries. Plus, of course, there are the beaches where you and your furry friend can have a ball together, like sheltered West Cliff Beach which is dog-friendly all year. Climb the 199 Steps up to Whitby Abbey ruins for views and an atmospheric vibe. Watch the ebb and flow of life at the bustling harbour and learn more about Captain Cook. Take the night off self-catering with fish and chips or a seafood feast.

Overall a lovely cottage. The location was ideal for us, away from the busyness of town but close enough that you could still walk in (with toddlers!) with ease. Very well equipped kitchen, everything you could need and lovely sitting room. Only real downside for was the comfort of the beds, unfortunately led to very poor sleep.

Really happy with the stay we had in Whitby. If we were to return in the future, we would look here first. The location was great and everything was in walking distance. It was a clean and cosy cottage with plenty of space for the 6 of us. We also really appreciated having tea, coffee and milk ready for when we arrived after our long journey.

We loved our stay at Egrets Landing. So convenient for Whitby within walking distance even for our 4 year old granddaughter. As it was Easter it was very busy but didnt dampen our enjoyment. All 3 cars hung around for a space on Church Street which we achieved. A very well equipped, comfortable and very clean cottage. Even a thoughtful bag of beacRead moreh toys. We were quite ok with the outside steps even enjoying the banter with the others using them too. Lots of books and games within the cottage. Had a lovely pizza and beers at the Whitby brewery. Can recommend. Thank you for our stay! Hide

We love this cottage, have stayed twice now and have rebooked for next year. Its a no frills, practical, warm, clean cottage with everything you need and just a short stroll along the estuary to the town and beaches. The beds are comfortable, bedding and towels are good quality and there is a well equipped kitchen. There are throws to put on the sofRead morea if you have a pet, and dog bowls are provided. There are also beach toys for children. The cottage does involve steps so not good if you have any mobility issues and parking is a gamble on the road but it is free parking if you manage to find a space, which is a bonus! Around the corner is a fabulous fruit/veg wholesalers who also sell to the public, it was also brilliant for the day to day bits we needed, milk, bread, eggs etc. Hide

An atmospheric terraced cottage only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Whitby. The bedrooms are not very big, but we were fine for three nights with six adults, a baby and a dog. The parking can be a bit of a challenge, but most of the time we were walking in and around Whitby itself so it wasn't a great problem so once we had found a space were aRead moreble to leave the car there. Very nice and very clean accommodation and spread over 3 levels and in the very location we wanted to be. ideal for people visiting without transport as parking nearby is difficult for people coming by car. Not ideal for some people with mobility issues either due to steps you'll need to traverse each day.
