From the doorstep, guests can join a range of walking and cycling routes, including Carrock Fell and the picturesque 2-mile walk around Castle Carrock Reservoir. A cosy pub just 1.5 miles away serves homemade food and a wide selection of drinks. Venture to RSPB Geltsdale (7 miles) for wildlife and rugged moorland scenery, or to Talkin Tarn Country Park (2 miles), known for its water sports, lakeside trails and charming tea room. The iconic Hadrian’s Wall is 2.5 miles away, while Carlisle, where you’ll find a magnificent castle and beautiful cathedral, is 11 miles away. For a day out, both the Scottish border and the northern Lake District are reachable within 28 miles.
The cottage is a beautifully thought-out conversion of the ground floor of a Grade II-listed tower barn. It’s cosy and welcoming thanks to underfloor heating throughout and the wood burner that creates a focal point in the open-plan living space. Comfortable seating and a Smart TV, plus a DVD player, mean you can have quiet nights in with a good book, play a movie or stream a favourite show. For cooking, you’ll have a well-designed kitchen that includes everything you need to whip up delicious dishes, and there’s also a washer/dryer to take care of any muddy walking gear. The super-king-size bedroom is bright and spacious, with its own TV for late-night viewing or long lie-ins. There’s also a stylish, en-suite wet room with grab rails and slip-resistant vinyl flooring.
When you want a breath of fresh air, whether for a morning coffee, an afternoon snack or a sundowner, the private, enclosed patio is the perfect space in which to unwind. Private parking for two cars is available approximately 10 metres from the cottage door (please note that there is a gentle slope). You may park right outside for loading and unloading.
