This quirky accommodation gives you the chance to go for a romantic retreat to a deluxe former radar station. Suitable for a couple (or two by prior arrangement) – or even two friends – this dog-friendly bolthole is unusual, to say the least. Ideally located for exploring the lovely Lincolnshire Wolds or the coast, it’s great for those on two and four legs.

Who knew that such a building could be so artfully repurposed into two sleek apartments, bookable individually or together. Each unit has lots of glass, naturally, and has been kitted out with slick contemporary fixtures and fittings. The decor scheme is mainly light and monochrome, with bold use of colour occasionally. Underfloor heating keeps things snuggly even in cooler weather. There’s a small sitting area where you enter downstairs, with the super-king-size bedroom just a few steps up from here. Upstairs you’ll find the open-plan living area, with a lounge, kitchen and breakfast bar for eating any holiday fare. The outside space consists of a wraparound balcony terrace with furniture for taking in the view. There’s private parking for up to three cars, too.

There’s some great walking to be found in this lesser known area of the country, through the lovely rolling countryside of the Lincolnshire Wolds, with its tranquil valleys and delightful streams. Be sure to stop for refreshment or just a mooch in some of its characterful market towns and attractive villages, too. The market town of Louth is 13.5 miles away and is known as the capital of the Wolds, but offers plenty for foodies, with specialist food shops and producers. Meanwhile, the coast offers up Skegness (10 miles) for seaside shenanigans and Chapel St Leonards (8.5 miles) has the North Sea Observatory, the country’s only purpose-built marine observatory.
