Twelve miles from Padstow and 3.5 miles from Newquay on the rugged north Cornwall coast, Mawgan Porth has west-facing sands which are a favourite for tail-wagging walks. The South West Coast Path passes through the village – a mile north you’ll reach the legendary Bedruthan Steps ,while further on Trevose Head (8 miles) is famous for its distinctive white lighthouse. En route, Constantine Bay (6 miles) is a small village surrounded by countryside and, on its western edge, a sweeping arc of sand that’s also dog-friendly. Closer to home, Watergate Bay is a permanent pups’ playground, its two-mile stretch of sand studded with rock pools.
