This off-grid retreat enjoys a stunning, waterside setting amongst the rolling countryside of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape. Boasting a tranquil location surrounded by nature, it’s perfect for couples seeking a digital detox with their favourite furry chum. As expected, the surrounding area is awash with dog-walking trails to explore, across open downland, along dramatic chalk ridges, and through ancient woodlands.
A peaceful farm track leads to the stylish lake house, which is located on an organic farm. A few steps take you inside, where you’ll discover a light-filled, open-plan living area with a striking circular pitched roof and magnificent views across the water. To the rear of the room is a bespoke kitchenette for rustling up delicious dinners for two, which you can share at the dining table overlooking the lake. After dinner, curl up in one of the vibrant armchairs to read a few pages from your book. This room has practical wooden floors and ample space to set up the dog bed. The separate double bedroom features an array of natural tones and textures, and has its own, en-suite shower room (with a separate WC). Outside, sip a morning coffee and watch the local wildlife whilst Rover potters around on the grass, or perhaps take a refreshing dip in the lake. Private parking is available outside the property.
There are some truly spectacular walking routes to enjoy nearby, many of which take in fascinating ancient sites and prehistoric features. Take a stroll along the old Roman roads, or follow the popular Ridgeway walk (15.5 miles) for jaw-dropping views across the landscape. There are also some lovely routes around the Uffington White Horse (10 miles) and the neolithic stone circles at Avebury (20 miles).
