At a glance

  • Enjoy sailing, kayaking and fishing on Loch Tay
  • Ideal for walkers and hikers with nearby Ben Lawers mountain range
  • Take in the outstanding views from the privacy of your own lodge
Property code: OC-CA351

Sitting above Loch Tay, with access to the shore and glorious views across the loch to Ben Lawers, this traditional log cabin is perfect for four human guests and two canines looking to connect with the landscape – deer, red squirrels, otters and ospreys are just some of the wildlife you might be lucky enough to see from the windows, or on one of your lochside walks. Lucky pups.

Set across one level, the heart of this compact property is the sitting room, with its a welcoming wood burner and large picture window that provides glorious views down to the loch. On warmer days, you can bring the outside in by opening the door to the enclosed garden, allowing your pack to roam outside safely while you listen to the birds and other wildlife around you. A separate dining area means you can find your own space when you need to, while still enjoying the views through the dual aspect windows. The property comfortably sleeps all its guests, with a choice of one double and one twin bedroom.

A world away from the daily grind, this tranquil destination is less than 1 mile from a local hotel and restaurant, but you will need to journey 6.5 miles west to Killin for local shopping. This is not a place to ‘shop and run', though, as the village is the setting for the magnificent Falls of Dochard and ancient Clan Mcnabb Burial Grounds, as well as the impressive – but now disused – Dochard Viaduct. The Rob Roy Way also runs through the village, allowing you and your pack to join the 79-mile-long trail and follow it on foot or by bike, heading south towards Loch Earn or east along the shores of Loch Tay, chasing sticks and enjoying outstanding scenery as you go.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with bath, shower and WC, 1 separate WC
  • Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, kettle, air fryer and toaster
  • Utility room with washing machine,  fridge freezer (small freezer section)
  • Wood burner – logs included
  • TV
  • Private parking - please note this is approx. 20 yards away and four steps down to the property
  • Please note guests will need to bring their own towels
  • Fishing for trout available from Loch Tay
  • Pub 0.5 miles and shop 6.5 miles
  • Please note - Livestock may be in the surrounding fields.
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

Loved the Log Cabin. So peaceful and close to nature with deer, red squirrels, birds at the feeders, woodpeckers, swallows, pheasants etc all right in front of the log cabin. We only used the woodburner fire once, but ample stores of logs were available.

Beautiful, homely place just right for switching off completely. Lovely views, and watching the birds, field mice and resident squirrel was very special. Had another wonderful, relaxing week at the Log Cabin. Its so peaceful there, so much wildlife to see and is just a place to feel rejuvenated. A very well equipped cabin, comfortable and clean. As long as you dont mind driving on a single track road (with passing places) to get there, then its a perfect location, with access to Loch Tay.

We have stayed in many cottages throughout Scotland and this one is up there amongst the best of them. It is a wonderful cosy retreat and the views out of every window are excellent.
