Get away from it all in this stunning coastal property on the Isle of Arran. The idyllic holiday cottage sleeps eight guests and one waggy-tailed companion and is the ideal base for family get-togethers and holidays with friends, with a choice of social spaces both indoors and outside. The quaint village of Blackwaterfoot has a handful of cute shops and cafes, as well as a rugged, sandy beach that’s perfect for morning walkies.

The whitewashed cottage is bright and airy, with large windows and glass doors to make the most of the glorious sea views. The cosy lounge is a real sanctuary after a blustery dog walk, with a roaring wood burner and a choice of comfortable seating. This room really has the wow factor, with a striking wood-panelled ceiling, exposed stonework, and spiral staircase. Also on the ground floor is a sunroom that boasts panoramic views; with direct access to the garden, this is also a good spot for Fido to set up camp. The spacious kitchen/diner has everything needed to rustle up feasts for the group, as well as a dining table for informal gatherings. For dinner parties and family celebrations, there’s a formal dining room with a table to seat everyone. A second sunroom/porch provides a quiet spot for relaxing with a book, and also on the ground floor is a utility room and shower room. One of the attractive bedrooms – a double – completes this level, with the remaining bedrooms upstairs. Also on the second floor is a family bathroom and a snug that makes a great hide-out for children seeking a little independence. Outside, a vast, enclosed garden envelops the property. Dine under the stars on the patio, taking in your spectacular surroundings, whilst the children and hound play on the large lawn. Finally, completing the outdoor area is an enclosed kennel, should you need it during your stay.

Blackwaterfoot is a great base for walkers and four-pawed explorers. Exhilarating routes, with spectacular views, branch away from the village, including to The King’s Cave (where, according to legend, Robert the Bruce took refuge). There are also pretty walks in and around the village, encompassing the harbour and beach. If you really fancy stretching the legs and getting tails wagging, why not take on the magnificent Goat Fell (14.5 miles), the highest point on the island? Other paw-friendly days out include Machrie Moor Standing Stones (5.5 miles) and Brodick Castle (11.5 miles).

Moinadh Cottage is really a great place, with an breathtaking view on the sea & the countryside around. It was very clean with a well-equipped kitchen. We also much appreciated the easy-to-use fireplace in living room in the evening. I strongly recommend Moinadh Cottage and it really contributed to us having a great time on Arran Island.
