A delightful couples retreat awaits at this spacious ground-floor garden apartment, which you will find close to picturesque Hawkshead in the breathtaking Lake District. Together with up to two furry friends, spend your days exploring the many countryside walks that surround the property, and your nights relaxing in total peace and tranquillity.

Wake up in the king-size bedroom and throw open the French windows, which open straight onto a private patio area - the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee as you take in the incredible views across the Esthwaite Valley. Unwind beside the babbling brook and read in the fresh country air or enjoy birdwatching from the garden. After a busy day of exploring, relax in the light and homely lounge/diner beside the electric fire, dogs curled up at your feet, or perhaps make the most of the fresh country air and fire up the BBQ in the owner’s gardens, which guests have access to; the apartment is located below the owner’s own, but privacy is assured.

Take a short drive to Lake Windermere (5 miles) or Coniston Water (5.5 miles) and let the dogs lead the way as you explore winding lanes, lush green fields, and woodland trails, leading to one of the incredible viewpoints. From Windermere (10 miles from the property, across the lake), we recommend the 2.5-mile long route to Orrest Head - an incredible spot to watch the sunset. Claife Heights (5 miles) is also not to be missed - a purpose-built viewing platform that offers unrivalled views over Lake Windermere.

We had a very comfortable stay at Woody Nook. It was warm and spacious. Clean and modern furnishing. Great shower and normal radiators for drying. Enormous bed with good mattresses. Very dog friendly as we like a one level living for our 2 dachshunds. Big secure garden for the dogs and different seating areas just a shame weather wasn't warm or sunny enough. The owners were extremely friendly. Can be a bit tricky for a bigger car to park but you get used to it after. The location to the village was very close and convenient (hilly in some parts) we walked mostly to village as there is a scenic route. Quaint little village with quality shops and great being car free. Hide
