Escape to the Suffolk countryside with your favourite human and hound in this charming lodge near the village of Tunstall. The holiday retreat is nestled within the owner’s extensive grounds, providing ample space for the pup to burn off steam, and there are also numerous walks nearby through Tunstall Forest. You’ll find some excellent woof-welcoming attractions within easy reach of this cottage, including the Anglo-Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo (7 miles) and the 12th-century Framlingham Castle (9.5 miles).

The single-level lodge boasts a contemporary style of decor, with the bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner at the heart of the property. The welcoming space offers a cheerful colour scheme, a vaulted ceiling and far-reaching countryside views. The sleek kitchen area has everything needed to rustle up a tasty dinner for two, which you can share at the intimate dining table. In the evenings, get cosy on the sofa and watch a film on the Smart TV. With hard floors and direct access to the outside, this is the perfect place for your waggy-tailed companion to set up camp. The double bedroom has a delicate coastal theme, and a spacious shower room completes the accommodation. Outside, dine alfresco on your private patio before taking an evening dog walk around the shared grounds. Private parking is available at the property.

You and your canine buddy will be spoilt for choice when it comes to nearby walks. On a hot day, explore the shady footpaths through Tunstall Forest or for wildlife watching, journey to the nature reserve at Blaxhall Common (both within 2 miles). There are also some lovely countryside walks around Snape Maltings, and your furry friend is welcome in some of the indoor areas too (2.5 miles). For a blast of sea air, head to the Suffolk Heritage Coast to explore woof-friendly beaches such as Covehithe (24 miles) or Kessingland (26 miles). A lovely, comfortable, well-equipped cottage set in a large quiet garden. We spent much time admiring the birds, butterflies and flowers and the views over the surrounding countryside. The welcoming owners were unobtrusive but aways on hand for help, advice or just a chat. This was our second stay at Scapa Lodge and we shall definitely return.
