What could be more thrilling for holiday-hunting hounds and humans than this charismatic old shooting lodge? It's set in 1.5 acres of beauty on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. On the banks of the River Shee and surrounded by the majestic Grampian Mountains, this area is regarded by many as Scotland's premier winter sports haven. After exploring the glen or playing a round of golf in Blairgowrie (7.5 miles), pop into one of the local pet-friendly pubs. After a day of adventures, gather around the glowing fire of this charming cottage with your friends, family and canine companion in the sweet sitting room, with its wide bay window overlooking Shee Water. Whilst doggies are pampered in the drying room, prepare tasty local fare in the bright and spacious kitchen. It's a joy to feast in the wide dining room, with its delightful Victorian hearth. Upstairs, soak in a warm bath before finding your cosy bedroom; the super king-size master has exquisite mountain and river views through its sweeping bay window, and the elegant king-size has a lovely Victorian fireplace.

Munro baggers, two-legged and four, can test themselves on the 9 Munros Walk, starting near Creag Leacach (8 miles). Explore the myriad independent shops, restaurants, dog-friendly pubs and galleries in Braemar and Pitlochry (22 miles). The 17th-century Braemar Castle holds 400 years of colourful Highland history while the 13th-century Blair Castle (30 miles) has art, armour and pet-friendly grounds. An absolute gem of a property - spacious yet cosy, comfortable yet luxurious and with all sorts of hidden quirks and delights. Lots of interesting features, antiques and conversation starters. Our dogs loved the garden and surrounding area. We'll definitely come back.

This is a really lovely property. It's set in a very beautiful location with good access to local skiing and plenty of other things to see and do if skiing isn't for you. The lodge was in a beautiful setting and was in pretty easy access of everywhere you could want. On the whole we had a great time and it fit our needs however after clearly experiencing a busy summer there were a few bits that felt could be improved in terms of the equipment and upkeep.

The cottage is lovely and apart from the problems with the cooker being very slow and unreliable we enjoyed our stay. We were lucky with the weather, but if Corrydon Lodge is available, book it. We had the most amazing week. The photos do not do the location justice and I would thoroughly recommend booking to anyone. We need to find ourselves another slot!

We had a lovely weekend with family and friends at Corrydon over Easter. The house is in a great location for easy access to munroes and gentler walks and despite being on the roadside there was very little traffic noise. The house is well equipped and there was plenty of space for 7 adults. Definitely recommend for a get away from it all break.

Clearly a loved holiday home and an old house...well appointed kitchen, plentiful logs, and a great sitting room to lounge in with the fire burning. As an old house this has character but also quirks and needs to be treated with respect. We loved our winter stay and spent much time climbing the numerous local Munros.
