Alternatively, visit historic castles and houses, including Culzean, Dumfries House, and Dean, all dog-friendly and all within 15 miles. Poetry and history enthusiasts will love Alloway (5 miles), the birthplace of Robert Burns and the setting for his poems, whilst beach enthusiasts and sea dogs can head to Ayr (6 miles) where the beaches welcome paw prints all year round.
