This fabulous cottage has numerous countryside walks directly from its doorstep. The gorgeous property sleeps five guests and two dogs and is perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You’ll be just 13 miles from the stunning Ullswater Lake, where you and the hounds can cruise down the water on one of the heritage steamers or stride out on The Ullswater Way to explore the lake on foot and paw.
Vibrant colours mixed with traditional features such as the exposed beams, give this cottage a quirky feel. After a long dog walk, sink into the sumptuous chairs or sofa in front of the cosy wood burner-effect electric fire whilst Rover and Fido have a nap, or rustle up a hearty meal and enjoy socialising together around the large dining table. Hard floors throughout make dealing with the odd muddy pawprint nice and easy. Outside, there’s a charming enclosed garden where the woofers can potter around whilst you enjoy a spot of al fresco dining on the decked area.
Pooley Bridge, at the northern tip of Ullswater, is just 13 miles away. From here, you can take a 6.5-mile stroll through fields and woodlands to the impressive Aira Force waterfall. This is a great walk to do with the pups on a hot day, as there’s plenty of shade. At Pooley Bridge, you can also hop on one of the steamers and admire the fabulous views from the water. In spring, you can see the host of golden daffodils which inspired William Wordsworth’s famous poem. The dramatic ruins at Lowther Castle (9 miles away) are well worth a visit too. Your trusty companions can join you as you explore the 130-acre gardens and marvel at the spectacular views down the valley to the mountains beyond.
