There was no visitors book, I thought this strange as I always leave comments everywhere I stay. The welcome book has a letter from the owner, we thought he would be 110 now...the suggestion that the dog remains in the kitchen and no-where else is out-dated now. My dog has her own bed and stayed in it the whole holiday but she stayed with me. ShRead moree is not allowed on furniture and we respected the contents of the house at all times. Perhaps this needs updating as it will put people off. Kinglassie is not as close as I thought to Elie but I love the countryside so the peace and quiet was welcomed. We felt the whole house was a tribute to the original owner, so might not suit the more modern family. There was a water leak in the kitchen, the son of the owner paid us a visit to say he was going to be fixing a leak in the roof, not sure if this was related to the kitchen leak. He was very friendly, I mentioned we had difficulty with the TV remotes and we bought new batteries, after which they did work better. I feel that they may have had poor reviews in the past, again as the modern family would find things outdated. I am not giving a poor review, the beds were really comfy, the house was well maintained, clean and comfortable. It suited our reasons for bring there perfectly, It was 10 years since our Mother died, she grew up in Fife, our childhood was spent there, Elie Beach felt like our beach 50 years ago, the rock pools were full of hermit crabs, unfortunately, they seem to have disappeared now, but the beaches are kept well and have not been destroyed by tourism., which was a relief. Please thank the owners on our behalf, we loved our stay and would have given a good review in a visitors book. Maybe update the welcome book to be from the current owners. I would only recommend this property if someone owned or rode horses. My friend was with us but staying in a camper van at Elie Holiday Park, she would not have liked it at the farmhouse. I probably would not recommend this property to my friends. Kind regards Roberta McIntosh Hide

We stayed at The Farmhouse whilst visiting relatives in Thornton. A beautiful setting with plenty of walks and the horses were a great bonus. The garden is immaculate with amazing views. Central for shopping if needed although we didnt leave the Farmhouse much as we were so relaxed. Beds were comfortable and the rooms beautifully decorated. We Read morewerent aware of dogs not being allowed past the kitchen until our arrival and the sofa was very low and difficult to get up off but these are the only negatives. We enjoyed the sun room where you can see bunnies and pheasants. The housekeeper popped up to make sure everything was ok which was nice and the welcome package was a lovely touch. All in all we thoroughly relaxed and enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year. Hide

The Farmhouse is a great property. It's spacious, well-equipped with the additional benefit of a fireplace and a conservatory. The generous welcome pack was a really nice touch too. It could have been a bit cleaner though. Our only issue was that despite the listing stating the usual 'dogs not permitted on soft furnishings or in bedrooms' we were dRead moreisappointed to see 'Strictly no dogs beyond the kitchen' in the welcome folder. Lovely house, inside and out. Well equipped kitchen. Nice welcome package including bacon and eggs. Comfortable beds. Very peaceful. One bad bit, your dog has to stay in the kitchen. For that reason alone I would not return. Response from HolidayCottages.co.uk - Thank you for your feedback, please note that it mentions in the description dogs arRead moree not permitted on furniture or in the bedroom.

Great place and steeped in history if you take time to review the literature. Outdated internally - so if youre looking for all mod-cons dont bother - but if you want a cozy retreat this is your spot, so much so Ive booked it again for. Next year!
