Escape to this charming property that sits close to the riverside at Helmsdale, a sleepy Highland Village renowned for salmon fishing. Sleeping seven humans and one hound, your accommodation has seriously impressive views and ample space for Rover to snooze. The local landscape has more beauty spots to discover than you can shake a stick at, plus the marvellous coastline has so many pup-approved beaches that Fido won’t know what to do with himself.

Retreat from the elements and hunker down inside, watching your favourite films from the comfort of the snug or gathered together in the lounge with scenic rural views. There’s also a conservatory to relax in with your morning coffee, and in the evening the dining area is a treat for playing games around the table. The stylish kitchen is home to a wonderful breakfast bar – put the range of appliances to the test. At bedtime, the four bedrooms are split between the ground floor and first floor, all sharing the marvellous bathrooms and shower rooms. The garden isn’t enclosed and has a low boundary wall so beware of curious hounds when outside.

In a delightful rural location, this retreat is perfectly placed for exploring the outdoors, whether you are heading to the dog-friendly beaches close by or spending the day navigating the countryside and rounding off with some delicious local scran. Helmsdale Beach is within 0.5 miles, acting as the starting point for coastal walks and seal spotting as you scamper across sand, shingle, sand dunes and splash in the Moray Firth. The Strath of Kildonan offers endless scope for adventure, and if fishing is your thing, the River Helmsdale has a very promising reputation.

This is a beautiful cottage, and one of the best equipped we have ever stayed in (and we've stayed in a lot over the years). The cottage is well positioned, for walking into Helmsdale, walking along the shoreline, driving up towards Forsinade Flows or up and down the A9 to explore the nearby villages, or even taking the train journey to Wick via ThRead moreurso from the local railway station. We would recommend this as a great place to stay. Hide

Great house to stay in. Extremely well equipped and very comfortable. We were fishing in the area and it was nice to come back to the house after long days loch fishing. We'd be keen to come back next year.

This lovely house is in a beautiful location with just a short stroll to the village and shops. We especially enjoyed the Thyme and Plaice restaurant for a delicious lunch. We could not fault this property and would recommend it to anybody.

We spent three weeks in this cosy, comfortable home. The communication with the housekeeper, the owner and his father was very good! Very friendly people! The house is located perfect to take trips to the north (Thurso, John oGroats, Dunnet Head (watched puffins breeding at the rock face)), as well to Inverness, Dunrobin Castle, Chanonry Point (we Read moresaw dolphins hunting). And we had three weeks best weather! Wonderful time! Hide
