This sympathetically restored schoolroom offers couples a luxurious base from which to explore the stunning Highland and with its acre of enclosed garden, your four-legged companions will be content here too. There is also a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The double bedroom and bathroom with roll-top bath is upstairs in the tower. Outside, a BBQ and furniture allows you to relax and soak up your surroundings. The garden is enclosed but keep an eye on curious canines who might be interested by the unfenced burn.

Beauly (2.5 miles) sits at the end of the Beauly Firth which feeds into the Moray Firth. It's a great spot for gentle strolls around the upmarket shops and eateries or some salmon fishing as well as being a popular base for outdoor enthusiasts with some stunning glens and mountains close by, including Glen Affric. For a spot of myth busting, and a lovely walk, head to Loch Ness (22 miles) or for woodland walks, waterfalls and salmon watching, head to Rogie Falls (9 miles). Evelix is a stunning property with plenty of charm we loved imagining what it must have been like when children still went to school here. The blend of old and new is particularly well done we especially liked the modern heating system, the fantastic, almost spa-like bathroom (with plenty of water pressure) and the spacious, beautiful layout. EveRead moren the waste sorting scheme scored points with us. Our only issue was with the two sofas, which arent really suitable for lazing about indoors on a rainy day. We also have nothing but positive things to say about the location. All the main amenities are within easy walking distance, including the Co-op and the Singleton of Glen Ord distillery (also open on Sundays). You can go for lovely walks through the fields and pastures here, yet its still quite central to other attractions. A great place to shop is the Tesco in nearby Dingwall. Hide

This is a great location for touring around and the cottage is really nice. We sleep well and really enjoy it. Would book again. The welcome pack was great as we arrived late so had milk for tea and coffee in the morning, the cake was delicious.

Fantastic cottage, extremely comfortable and massive lovely garden right at the edge of the village of Muir of Ord. Dog friendly but large dogs and those that like investigating could get out of the garden so long lines recommended for them. Fantastic neighbours, highland cows! And excellent local pub just a very short walk away with fantastic foodRead more. Lots of attractions close at hand. Highly recommend this cottage. Hide

A beautifully restored property, with many original features and antique extras. Very nice that it hasn't been made too modern. The downstairs bed was soooo comfy, and the shower was great. My partner had trouble filling the amazing freestanding bath. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Fantastic place to stay in the Highlands. We really loved our time here, it's a great location with access to the stunning countryside and walks - plus the beautiful Singleton distillery nearby. We visited with our nervous Nelly dog and it was lovely and peaceful for her even on NYE. Thank you to the host.

Just spent a lovely five days at the old school house. Cottage has everything you would need for a relaxing break. The garden was safe and secure for our dog, he rarely strays out of sight so I felt comfortable letting him enjoy the space. Muir of Ord is a quiet spot, bad girls bakery was a lovely treat and worth a visit.
