The owners next door were helpful and considerate and while situated on a fairly busy road it was not intrusive and the location and welcome pack were gratefully received.

We would highly recommend Chestnut Cottage and are looking forward to returning as soon as we can. Prior to arrival we were sent excellent directions which definitely as the property is nicely tucked away. The property was spotlessly clean with very helpful information provided giving details of places to visit/eat/drink to how to use the appliRead moreances. The "treats" left out for us were definitely welcomed! The downstairs spacious bathroom with walk-in shower was definitely a blessing as I have mobility issues so that was one less thing to worry about. The cottage is ideally situated just a few minutes drive into Carlisle centre and the M6 motorway for a trip to South Scotland (consider Castle Douglas for a trip!) Hide

Thought the cottage was excellent and great value to for money. Its comfortable warm and well equipped and small editions like the welcome pack were greatly appreciated. Its a great base for touring the Cumbria coast and southern Scotland. An excellent place to stay. Beautiful house and super well located just 10 minutes from Carlisle. The only downside is being so close to a fast road (balancing the convenience with a little noise) but this does quite down over night and didn't disturb our sleep. Photos do not do this property justice. The most spacious place we've stayed in that was only for two. Lovely to have a choice of bathrooms. Really well equipped large kitchen. Warm, comfortable and convenient for Carlisle. Others have mentioned road noise - it was minimal.

We loved the house and everything in it,the only drawback was ,as it was winter,if our dogs needed to go out after dark we had to take a torch and escort them to the paddock area as there was no gate.

Very lovely set up for two people , with or without a furry friend ! Nicely furnished and very comfortable, private parking generous and it's very well placed for touring the region. The nearby access to the new Carlisle ring road is a great facility and makes the touring possibilities almost endless..

Chestnut cottage is beautiful, the owners were very welcoming. It's very spacious for two people, it's very comfortable and relaxing, very well equipped with everything you need. The welcome treats were much appreciated. Ideally situated for exploring local area, with many walks, lots to do and see.

The accommodation is vary large and more than adequate for a couple and pet dog, Everything in the accommodation is clean and it has everything and more than you would need. There is a small paddock area to allow the dog to walk and play which is also a great touch.

We loved our break away, the cottage was WOW! To say it was a one bedroom cottage we had so much space and never once felt cramped. The cottage was spotless we couldnt fault it at all. The owners are friendly, but left us alone and their own two dogs were so friendly and played with our dog. I would book the cottage again, if we came back to CarlisRead morele in the future as it was so easy to get into the town centre and was perfectly located for the countryside. Hide

The cottage is lovely, large, comfortable and very well equipped. A lovely area that was central for us travelling around different areas. We visited Carlisle town centre, Crawford Quarry, Talkin Tarn, Beacon Edge Summit & Penrith, Gretna Green and Ullswater on our stay. Lovely annex attached to owners home. Everything you need for a relaxing stay. Lovely welcome pack. Friendly and helpful hosts. In rural setting but some road noise although shielded well by hedges. Could have not choosen any where better. Close to amenities, Carlisle has so much history. Trains to other cities. The cottage is in a very peaceful area. The hosts are next door, such a welcome was recieved . Very thoughtful re welcome pack . A beautiful cottage, can not wait to return.

First class accommodation, peaceful, rural location, despite the peak period busyish minor road. Well stocked, modern, comfortable and clean. All shops in Carlisle to suit everyones tastes, nearest pub is the Drovers Rest serving good food and beer Try it

Joanne was very welcoming and supportive of out requests for arriving early and leaving late which made our weekend extra special. The annexe of the house was very spacious, especially for two people. A large well equiped kitchen, an atmospheric room with a woodburner we used every evening and a very spacious bedroom on the topfloor. And even two bathrooms! Very clean with lovely welcome items. Milk, tea, coffee, butter, cheese, fresh bread, crackers and biscuits. The facilities are great, (two bathrooms) furnishings are very comfortable, I had the best nights sleep in ages. So did our dog. Plenty of parking space and great outside space.
