This characterful holiday home enjoys a peaceful location in the charming village of Dalston. The cottage is within 15 miles of the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines, making it a fantastic base for walkers and four-pawed explorers. The historic city of Carlisle is just 5 miles away, and you’ll also be within easy reach of Lake District highlights such as Keswick, Bassenthwaite, and Ullswater (all within 25 miles).

The stylish barn conversion has a reverse-level layout and cleverly combines original features with contemporary decor and furniture, to create a characterful and comfortable base for your holiday. On the ground floor, you’ll find a spacious hallway for storing all your dog-walking gear, along with two beautiful bedrooms and a stylish bathroom. Heading upstairs, discover a gorgeous, open-plan living space, comprising a lounge/kitchen/diner. Spend time here, whipping up tasty feasts for the group in the sleek kitchen area to enjoy together at the dining table, before retiring to the comfortable lounge area for a movie night in front of the Smart TV. A warming wood burner-effect electric fire really helps set the scene, and creates a cosy dozing spot for the hound. Outside, unwind in the private courtyard, dining alfresco and taking in your peaceful surroundings. This area is also fully enclosed for your canine companion.

Within the village, you’ll find a good range of local shops, as well as a welcoming village pub for refuelling in after a long walk with the woofer. There are many picturesque tracks and trails branching away from the village, including a circular route that encompasses the medieval Rose Castle. The property is perfectly placed for day trips to the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (15 miles), known for its sandy beaches, exceptional wildlife-watching opportunities, and breathtaking sunsets.

Stayed at this cottage from 16 July for 3 nights. Located in the beautiful village of Dalston; its close to shops, the Blue Bell pub and about 5-10 minutes drive from Carlisle. Lovely accommodation, good location and comfortable beds. Importantly Dalston has train station, directly linked to Carlisle in 11 minutes. Dalston pubs are closed on Mondays and some Tuesdays.

The barn is tucked away behind the main square in Dalston. Inside it is upside down layout, with open plan upstairs. Beautifully renovated. There is a private courtyard to sit in. This is a lovely, well appointed and well presented barn conversion. Located close to shops and pub but yet quiet and out of the way, with a view of the river. Perfect for us to access Carlisle for a family wedding.
