Make a romantic retreat to this delightful country cottage for two in the South Cumbrian village of Gleaston and take a pair of happy hounds with you as well. Find great places to walk from the doorstep of the one-bedroom, holiday home, including heading to the seaside to pick up the Cumbria Coastal Way. Spend time on dog-friendly beaches; visit Walney Island then return home to relax outside in the fresh air or beside a roaring wood burner with your faithful friends by your side.

Wander into this homely property to unwind in the inviting lounge, with its wood burner and Smart TV. Prepare delicious candlelit dinners for yourselves and tasty snacks for hungry hounds in the kitchen, then decide whether to dine inside or out. Head upstairs to find the double bedroom and bathroom, plus a small study. Another Smart TV and relaxation area can be found up in the attic on the floor above. Sit out in the courtyard garden to the front of the cottage whenever the weather permits and let your pals enjoy the fresh air too. Rub them down behind the property after long, enjoyable, muddy walks, where there is also an outbuilding here with a handy washing machine and dryer. Parking for the cottage is on the road.

Plan coastal walks on the beaches at Aldingham, 3.5 miles away, and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, 4 miles away, where your chums can run to their hearts’ content and you can look out over Morecambe Bay. Make a trip to Walney Island, 6 miles away, and find more great dog walks, as well as pubs to stop in for a pint and a plate of Cumbrian fare, where four-legged friends are also welcome. Follow a section of the Cumbria Coastal Way, perhaps the 2.5-mile stretch from Aldingham to Bardsea.

Parking is difficult. Apart from the 4 pieces of wood provided we had to buy our own fuel, on christmas day no less. Settee and bed extremely uncomfortable. Beautiful village though. "Reply from holidaycottages.co.uk - Thank you for your feedback. The cottage description does state that logs are not included, and the starter supply was provided Read moreas a good will gesture rather than a guaranteed fuel supply. Additional logs can be purchased locally if required. Parking in the village is on-street, however there are usually plenty of spaces available nearby. We're sorry to hear you found the settee and bed uncomfortable. Comfort can be subjective, and this is not something that has been raised previously, but of course feedback will be monitored moving forward."

A gorgeous house in a great location - there's a field next door for dogs and an enclosed area outside where you can have a coffee and let them lounge. The facilities are great and it was perfect for our stay.

The cottage was very homely from the moment we arrived. The kitchen was well equipt and we had everything we needed to self cater for two weeks. The front room was cosy, smart tv and smart speakers available. There were little treats for us and our dog. A small recreation area over the road was perfect for the morning dog walk. It was a lovely stay, everything we needed was there for a relaxing time. A little patio set for the front would be nice, we sat on the tree stump stools & ate our dinner on our laps one night when the weather was glorious & it would have been nice to be able to spend a little longer out there as it gets the evening sun. The owners were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. It was a last minute booking due to a dying relative and they could not have been more accommodating. Made a very difficult time a little bit easier. And the house is just a home away from home.

Lovely property, however if you have mobility problems the seats in the lounge are quite low you may have difficulty getting up. My husband and I stayed here for our 17th Wedding Anniversary. The cottage was perfect, clean, tidy with plenty of amenities. This is one of the nicest cottages I have EVER stayed in. Nearby is the town of Ulverston and Sunday lunch in the Rose & Crown there is a must (dog friendly pub). There is a lovely walk around Greenodd (a village just a coupRead morele of miles away). The cottage was very cosy and comfy, particularly the Snug in the attic. Thank you Rachael & Mark for a wonderful stay! Hide
