Nestled deep in the countryside and surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this chocolate-box cottage is a sheer treat. Sleeping two with ample space for a well-behaved pup, you’ll soon be discovering the open moors and rolling fells with a picnic in tow, returning to snuggle up by the wood burner-effect electric fire. The Lake District National Park is also within 17 miles, leaving you with more options for walkies than you can shake a stick at.

Packed full of character, your abode has a humble stone exterior coated with climbing ivy and inside it is rustic and comfortable. The property is laid out in a reverse-level style, greeting you with a pleasant bedroom and a handy shower room. Exposed stone, wooden ceilings and timber beams set the scene in the open-plan living space upstairs, inviting you to curl up with a mug of hot cocoa whilst Fido snoozes by your feet. It may be compact, but the country-cottage kitchen area has everything you need to prepare hearty suppers to enjoy around the table.

The nearest town is Kirkby Stephen (7 miles), a bustling market town with more than its fair share of castles nearby, such as the ruins of Brough Castle (11 miles) – a must for the budding historians amongst you. Further afield, Kendal 17 miles away has an excellent selection of shops and eateries, or set your sights on adventure and arrange a day of fun at the climbing centre. The nearest lake is Haweswater (21 miles), a mesmerising reservoir nestling within the picturesque Mardale Valley. At times of low water, you may even see the remnants of the old village that now lies submerged beneath the lake.

It was without a doubt a super nice property, so well equipped and immaculately clean. The owners were so helpful and attentive to every need. Scores 10 out of 10 in my book. Id highly recommend this as a venue for anybody wishing to visit the beauty of Cumbria.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay, we wouldn't change a thing! It was well worth while a 7 hour drive. If we had sunshine we may never have left!

Fantastic base for both the Dales and the Lakes. Lovely peaceful and cosy cottage in super gardens. Comfortable and everything you may require was provided.
