Treat yourselves to a splendid stay in Cockermouth, Cumbria, and make sure your four-legged friends don’t miss out. Sleeping 14 guests and a pair of privileged pups, this striking seven-bedroom house could be ideal for a large, dog-loving group. Situated just 1.5 miles from the Lake District, it is in a perfect position for exhilarating walks through wonderful countryside and is also just 7 miles from Flimby, where your pals can dip their paws in the salty water and accompany you along the seafront.

Watch Fido and Fred pad through the gorgeous reception hall with its wooden panelling and handsome staircase. Take them into the kitchen and utility room, where you can wash their towel, feed them and let them out into the enclosed courtyard. Prepare celebratory feasts in here too for your party then serve up in the dining room. Also at ground-floor level is a bunk bedroom, with an en-suite shower room. Head up to the first floor to relax with your furry friends in the lounge in front of the Smart TV. At this level too are a double bedroom, with a TV and an en-suite bathroom, and a king-size with an en-suite shower room. Venture up to the floor above to a twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a super-king, a king and a double, all with en-suite shower rooms and TVs. Take Fido and Fred to the castle grounds just 60 metres away to stretch their legs then return to relax in the courtyard. Parking is in a pay car park 120 metres away.

Venture 12 miles for a day out at Keswick. Walk some of the 10-mile circuit of Derwentwater with your waggy tailed friends or take them for a ride on a dog-friendly lake cruise before having lunch in one of the town’s pubs where they are also welcome.

Had a great few days here with my extended family. the house had plenty of space, was well equipped and in a great location to potter down the high street or drive to nearby attractions. Would recommend for large families as there was plenty of space for everyone to get some quiet time if needed.

Lovely house in a great location! A great base for spending the weekend in the Lakes. All the bedrooms are lovely. Beds were comfortable. Would return in future. Thank you for having us.
