Switch off from everyday life at this remote farmhouse in the Duddon Valley. Sleeping six guests and one hound, it’s the perfect holiday home for large families and groups of friends. Dog walks stretch out in all directions, meaning you can happily have a car-free holiday if you wish. Further afield, you’re just 15 miles from Coniston Water and 19 miles from the dog-friendly beaches of the Cumbrian coast. The cosy farmhouse has a wood burner and open fire, as well as ample outdoor space for Rover.
The property is one of the oldest in the area and retains many of its original features. The traditional farmhouse kitchen boasts beautiful rural views and has a dining table next to a warming wood burner, where you can congregate for a hearty breakfast before a long walk. The cosy lounge is a lovely spot to snuggle up at the end of the day, warming your toes and paws by the open fire and watching the TV. Upstairs are three tasteful bedrooms: two king-size and one twin. Enjoy a glass of wine on the patio to the front of the property, whilst the pup enjoys a good sniff and explore in the orchard. There’s also further seating in the rear garden.
Stride out on foot from the property to nearby Seathwaite Tarn, where you can share a picnic next to the water and try a spot of wild swimming in the wilderness. Let your canine buddy lead the way on a climb to the summit of Harter Fell, where you’ll be rewarded with superb views of the Scafell mountains. You’ll find mile upon mile of woof-welcoming sand and shingle at Seascale Beach (19 miles). Blow away the cobwebs on a wild and windy dog walk, admiring the spectacular views towards the Galloway mountains.
