This stylish holiday home is in the rural village of Rowrah, on the western edge of the Lake District National Park. The property sleeps four guests and two pups, and makes a delightful couples’ retreat or base for a small family. The surrounding area is awash with walking tracks and trails to sniff and explore, from a peaceful lakeside stroll at Ennerdale Water (4 miles) to an exhilarating hike to the summit of Pillar Rock (10 miles). For shopping and eating out, the bustling town of Cockermouth is 10 miles away.
The cottage has been beautifully decorated and furnished, with neutral paintwork providing a calming backdrop to sleek furniture and carefully chosen accessories. Leave muddy boots and dog leads in the hallway, before heading through to the attractive lounge. Here, an array of colourful seating is set around a Smart TV and a cosy wood burner, providing the ideal spot for you and the hounds to snuggle up after a day of adventure. The kitchen/diner has a country-cottage vibe and is equipped with everything needed for a self-catering break. Gather here, around the rustic dining table with bench seating, for a delicious dinner in the glow of the cottage’s second cosy wood burner. This room opens onto a handy utility area; with direct access to the garden, this is a great place for the hounds to hang out. Steep, cottage-style stairs lead to two tastefully decorated bedrooms, both of which enjoy fabulous rural views and share a sleek family shower room. Outside, let the pups potter around in the enclosed garden, whilst you fire up the BBQ and enjoy a spot of al fresco dining on a summer’s evening. The garden is arranged across two levels, with a few steps leading to a second dining area with countryside views. The property has on-street parking, subject to availability.
The cottage is a great base for exploring the northern lakes, with Loweswater and Buttermere both within 10 miles. These stunning lakes are often considerably quieter than the other bodies of water within the national park, and are the ideal place to fully switch off and connect with nature. You’ll also be within easy reach of the Cumbria coast, with the seaside village of St Bees just 8.5 miles away. Here, you’ll find a sandy, paw-friendly beach, and spectacular clifftop walks to explore at St Bees Head.
