Set within 900 acres of beautiful parkland near Mellor, this remarkable property forms part of the historic Woodfold Hall estate, once considered the grandest private home in East Lancashire. Built in 1798 and later home to members of the Thwaites family until 1946, the estate blends timeless heritage with beautiful natural surroundings, offering a rare chance to stay in a location rich in character, history, and countryside charm. Set within woodland, it’s a haven for wildlife and a paradise for dogs, with scenic walks beginning right from the doorstep and several country pubs nearby. A lovely circular route from the property leads to Pleasington, Hoghton Tower and Stanley House, while one notable local hike remains the Darwen Tower walk. Just 11 miles away lies the market town of Clitheroe with its medieval castle and traditional market. Pleasington Golf Course sits only 4.5 miles away, with several country pubs nearby. Alternatively, head to Pendle Hill (13 miles), famous for its witch trials and atmospheric landscape. Further afield, the Yorkshire Dales National Park begins 25 miles from your door.

Enter through the front door into a welcoming hallway that leads you straight into the heart of this stylish retreat. To your right, the inviting lounge is designed for relaxation, with plush seating, a crackling wood burner and a Smart TV for cosy evenings in. On warmer days, throw open the bi-fold doors and let the fresh air flow in as you drift outside to the garden. The well equipped kitchen/diner awaits for sociable mealtimes, with generous worktop space for prepping feasts and a dining table ready for leisurely dinners. A ground-floor double bedroom provides easy access for guests with reduced mobility, and there’s a bathroom with a shower over the bath just across the hall. Upstairs, discover a bright and breezy super-king-size bedroom with its own en-suite shower room – a calm sanctuary after a busy day’s adventure. A twin room completes the sleeping arrangements, ideal for children or friends sharing.

Savour al fresco breakfasts on the patio, fire up the charcoal BBQ, or sink into the private hot tub and unwind beneath the stars. A family‑friendly garden playground where children can play safely while parents relax and enjoy the space, with tranquil woodland views and plenty of private parking, you can switch off and settle into holiday mode. A beautiful gatehouse that has been modernised tastefully. Fantastic wildlife birds, deer, hare and squirrels. Within easy reach of Blackburn, excellent walking, good food locally. We had a lovely family week, 4 adults.
