The country-style kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm, while exposed beams and comfy sofas in the lounge beckon you to sink back in front of the wood burner that’s surrounded by a stunning stone fireplace. The hounds can take themselves off and snooze in the cosy snug, or you can join them with a good book. The bedrooms on the first floor are quirky and inviting with exposed wood beams and reduced head height; wake up among fresh, bright decor and head down to the garden to take in the morning views of the church.
Walk down to Hartford Quay (1 mile) and learn about its rich maritime history before stopping for lunch at the dog-friendly pub. Black Rock Beach just outside Bude (19 miles) has wild beauty in abundance, but if you’re looking for a perfect sandy beach, head to Northcott Mouth (16 miles) which is a secluded alternative to the more popular ones. The Gnome Reserve (11.5 miles) offers a fun day out where the whole family can dress up and search for over 70 gnomes and pixies hiding in the woodland and wildflower gardens.
