This recently refurbished character cottage is situated on a working sheep farm and offers two charming bedrooms. Perfect for family getaways with the dog, it is within easy reach of Sutton Bingham reservoir and the dramatic Jurassic Coast. After a busy day spent exploring Somerset and Dorset’s countryside and coastline with your canine companion, return to this charming cottage for an al fresco meal on the patio or a relaxing evening of TV or film.

Inside, the accommodation is fresh, bright and modern with tasteful neutral tones and carefully chosen furnishings throughout. Prepare tasty family meals in the contemporary kitchen, which includes everything you should need together with a small table for light meals and drinks. Afterwards, retire to the cosy lounge/diner for an evening in front of the TV while your four-legged friend snoozes happily at your feet. While away peaceful afternoons with a good book in the delightful conservatory, which opens onto the enclosed patio with views of rolling Dorset countryside.

This characterful cottage is an ideal base from which to explore both the Dorset and Somerset countryside and coastal attractions. Memorable days out can be spent relaxing on the sands at Weymouth (26.5 miles) or Chesil Beach (21.5 miles) or fossil hunting at Charmouth (20 miles) or Lyme Regis (23 miles). The Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is just 22 miles away, where an extraordinary variety of flora and fauna can be discovered and wonderful dog walks are waiting to be enjoyed. Closer to home, the local village of Halstock (1 mile) is home to a quintessential church and shop, while the market towns of Dorchester (18.5 miles) and Bridport (15 miles) offer a wide range of shops and eateries.

Due to lack of maintenance our holiday was completely ruined and resulted in us having to vacate to cottage when we eventually was able to locate our own alternative accommodation but unfortunately the impact of everything completely spoilt the rest we had left of our and ruined the gift for my Mum's 70th Birthday. Brilliant cottage. Great base for our stay exploring the area. Gave the feel of in the middle of nowhere but also close to larger towns etc. Lovely garden and views. Beds very comfy. Very helpful, friendly owner. We will definitely return! (Also a wonderful welcome hamper was much appreciated!)

The Cottage is the ideal place to completely unwind. Don't think you are in the middle of no where, 10 min drive down lanes and you a on major roads, Dorset is your oyster. We were warmly greeted by Jo and one or her dogs, really appreciated the welcome pack. Cottage is home from home and has everything you heed, just turn up with a case. If its peace and quiet youre after, this is ideal. The cottage is very clean and well equipped. Jo was most helpful and the welcome pack was a nice touch. The cottage is remote so dont expect to be able to walk to a shop or pub. Plenty of stunning countryside to unwind in.

The cottage owners were very friendly and helpful, we had a welcoming food pack consisting of lovely scones, cream, jam, cake and biscuits. Cottage was lovely and clean and well equipped, great quality bedding. We really enjoyed our week here. Cottage is well placed for some great days out.

Beautifully peaceful location and fantastic views, with the lovely sound of sheep in the background occasionally and the singing Birds in the Apple tree. Property is well maintained, very clean and comfortable. Had everything we could possibly need for our weeks stay. Immaculate, well-equipped, quiet cottage. Emblands Cottage was a perfect retreat for us. We enjoyed exploring nearby villages as well as places along the coast. The cottage had everything we needed to settle in, put our feet up, and enjoy home-cooked meals. We had a lovely break. Our host Jo, greeted us as we pulled up to the cottage and made us feel very welcome. An amazing food basket was waiting for us in the kitchen: homemade cake, biscuits, a pot of local honey and apple juice as well as doggy biscuits for our pooch. A lovely stay in a well maintained cottage. Jo went to great lengths to ensure we were comfortable and the Welcome basket a lovely gesture, Thank you.Location great for walkers and do book Sunday lunch at the Fox.Delicious meal. Had a lovely stay in this spotlessly clean, very well equipped, cosy cottage. Lovely walks from the door and just perfect for solitude. Weather very disappointing sadly, but this is the UK and we just have to get on with it! It did unfortunately prevent us from sitting on the lovely patio very often to admire the beautiful view. Had a wonderful few days at Emblands Cottage. Great base to get about to see glorious Durdle Door, Man O War coves & beautiful Lulworth Cove. We visited Thomas Hardy cottage & had a lovely dog walk around the woodlands surrounding it & bumped into a couple of ponies. Cottage is set on a farm. Its very rural but very idyllic. Sheep & lamb at the botRead moretom of the garden & a resident retired chicken. Very comfy with all amenities. Jo & Peter were on hand if we needed anything. Highly recommend Hide
