Nestled in a tranquil countryside setting with easy access to some of Cornwall's most beautiful beaches, this converted barn, one of three on-site, boasts plenty of rural charm with exposed wooden beams overhead, thick stone walls and an inviting, homely atmosphere. The property comes complete with its own private patio garden, creating a romantic retreat for a couple and their canine companion.

Upon entering, hang your coats in the storage cupboard in the hallway leading to the main living area. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with the lounge/diner on the lower level, welcomes you with sofa seating, a dining table for two, a TV/DVD player, and a cosy wood burner-effect electric fire that Fido is sure to adore. Wooden steps ascend to the farmhouse-style kitchen, where you'll discover everything you need to make mealtimes a breeze. The comfortable king-size bedroom, with exposed beams and a TV, ensures a restful night's sleep. The bathroom, with a shower over the bath, completes this warm and welcoming home. From the lounge area, doors lead to the property's private patio with a BBQ and a picnic bench. The patio extends to a shared lawn area with plenty of space for a game of fetch, where guests can engage in a friendly game of croquet using the equipment found in the shared games barn, which also hosts table tennis and darts.

Head 9.5 miles to the coast, where glorious dog-friendly beaches such as Sandymouth await. Or visit the vibrant seaside town of Bude (11 miles), with its independent shops, cafes and pubs. Bude’s Summerleaze Beach is popular with sun worshippers and surfers alike, warmly welcoming pups on the lead during summertime. Just over the Devon border, the town of Holsworthy (5 miles) offers an authentic taste of Devonshire rural life, featuring a weekly pannier market, a bustling cattle market and a variety of shops, pubs and tearooms. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the nearby opportunities for scenic walks to get tails wagging, including those in the dramatic landscapes of Dartmoor National Park (20 miles).

Comfortable stay . A place to get away from it all and reset . Restful sleep and bird song . Welcome pack on arrival a thoughtful touch. Good communication with owner if needed . Car essential as no public transport nearby . Bude a short drive away with excellent accessible walks along wetlands and canal. Parking is a v.short but steep stroll from Read morethe property. A possible issue for those with mobility issues . Bedroom, bathroom and kitchen on different level to Lounge area (5 or 6 steps). Hide

What let this property down was the lack of cleaning. Every room, mirrors, pictures, inside and outside kitchen cupboards, windows, doors were full of spider webs. Pink mold on the shower head and grout in the bathroom. The whole place needed a good dusting and vacuuming. There were dog treats on the floor in the living room, toenail clippings in the bRead moreathroom. The accommodation was roomy and fairly well equipped but we wouldn't stay here again Hide

A light, airy, well equipped cottage, with a large enclosed garden. The bread and hot cross buns on arrival was a nice touch and very welcome. Situated down a farm track the access to the cottage can be muddy so boots advisable.

Very pleasant, comfortable, clean, thoughtfully equipped little retreat, right in the middle of the Hartland, Bideford, Torrington, Bude triangle. A Waitrose and a viaduct handy in Holsworthy, nearby. Generous hot water and wi-fi. Well suited to bringing your dog, as we did. Thank you.
