Rounding off this level is a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room. Two staircases lead to the first floor, where you’ll find four welcoming bedrooms, two of which have en-suite facilities. Completing the farmhouse is a contemporary shower room. Next door is a delightful cottage with a spacious, open-plan living area. Here, a cosy wood burner, housed in an original fireplace, takes centre stage. Unwind here, catching up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV, or sharing mealtimes at the farmhouse-style dining table. Completing the ground floor is a stylish kitchen and a refreshing shower room. Upstairs, two tastefully decorated bedrooms are nestled in the eaves. Outside, both properties have their own, enclosed gardens where Rover and Fido can burn off steam and you can dine alfresco on a balmy, summer’s evening. The farmhouse also benefits from a private hot tub, located in a garden room with far-reaching views across the Pennines. Private parking is available for six cars.

Nenthead is a fantastic base for keen walkers and four-pawed explorers. Enjoy a fascinating ramble from the Nenthead Mines Heritage Centre, to learn more about the village’s industrial past, or head to nearby Ashgill Force for a waterside stroll (perfect for the pups on a hot day). Alternatively, get the hearts pounding and ears flapping on an exhilarating climb at Cross Fell, the highest peak in the Pennines. Further afield, Lake District highlights, including Ullswater, are within 30 miles.
